This choking narrative rubs me the wrong way.

It's such an overused term and mostly used incorrectly. This was hubris, plain and simple. And like all good Greek tragedies, the Footy Gods took it upon themselves to punish them.

By definition a choke implies they froze in the face of victory, which is ironic considering the game was essentially over after 10 minutes.

It only looks like a choke because of how mercilessly ports tyres were pumped after the QF.

They were beaten at home soundly by pretty much all decent teams this year.

Yeh that exist to win premierships annoys the hell out of me. Every team wants to win a premiership. Unfortunately only one can a year. And it is bloody hard to do. Port supporters are stuck in the olden days of the SANFL where they would win them all the time. No that easy im afraid in the big comp.
