Thing is, whoever I don’t go out of Cumming or Jiath I will probably get next round for Clark anyway
I'm have Young, so that's one trade, and at the moment Clark will be the other one. Young will become Burgess leaving me 610K in the bank.

Unfortunately, that's not enough coin to go to Ridley, Doch etc, so it's either a mid pricer in Cumming/Jiath, or another rookie and wait a week to go for a premo. None of my other rookies are looking like they've maxxed out, so I don't want to upgrade them yet unless any get dropped this week (Kosi/Brockman/Meek are all possible).

Hmm I guess it's a wait and see as I doubt we'll be getting through the weekend without a whole host of players getting the axe. You might be worth trying to fix Hunter now as he's no chance of coming back or making any coin. He could quickly turn into deadwood.

I get the appeal on Tex, but I only need to look at Dunkley to see the ceiling on players this year... Dunks is going at a 110 average and not really flying up in price (currently $770k and has only gained $30k so far this year...).

Anyone who thinks Tex will sustain his current scoring needs a concussion test and to sit out this game for 12 days.

In reality Tex will run out of $$ generation by ~ $700k. Maybe sooner. Steph is the lesson, so I'm not going there again. At best, Walker will be a good instant reward for 1-2 weeks and $140k gained (max). Worst case he has a 60 sooner rather than later and everyone needs to jump off, costing 2x trades in the space of 3-4weeks.

I think its probably a week for a double rookie grab while a few new names have popped up.
Clark is my first to go of those mid pricer range. Next is probably Sholl, then Drew. But obviously if anyone is dropped before my trades happen they'll take priority.
Fantasia a little more valuable as I'll probably flick him forward at some point. While he's still ticking over 70 average he can stay.
I was on your line of thinking but changed my mind yesterday...

Tex is the highest averaging player in the game, negative B/E, plays NM and Freo and is only $550K!
If a rookie was $170k and you brought him in knowing he might take 5 weeks to make $150k, you'd do it!
Tex could make $150k in 2 weeks, all the time giving you 100+ avg!

Assuming no injury....
Worst case is he goes 80 avg for the next 4 weeks, make $150k
Probable case is he goes 100 avg for the next 4 weeks and makes $230K
Best case is he goes 120 avg for the next 4 weeks and makes $300K!!

I'm happy with any of those at his price!

Fair call.
My only concern is it's one thing to bring them in and make that quickfire cash, but you don't make anything until you can trade them out.
I've got an enormous list of players I don't want in my side which I'm trying to get out.
I can't afford to bring in any names over $400k that I don't see in my squad medium to long term.
Walker is one sub 80 score away from not being so attractive, at which point his name just gets chucked onto the endless list of "need to move on next week".
And if/when his scoring drops off, I might get stuck holding him just like with DeGoey.

DeGoey, Steph, Clark still on my "desperate to cull list". Clark I might get out this week so drops my list down to 2x atleast.

Players like Campbell, Sholl, Markov, Fantasia, Drew are only ever 1 poor game away from adding their names onto that list.

If we were still 3x trades a week I'd be all for Tex. In hindsight he was a good move last week. But not for me this week, even if he's guaranteed to go 100+ again against North.

If Tex goes 80s from here, he doesn't make $150k.

He might get $100-$120k, but most of that is this week.

The AF website needs a price model - throw in your predicted scores and see what the player costs over that duration.

Pretty easy for me this week;

Young to Jiath
Hunter/Bergman (depending on who is named) to Robertson/Burgess

Although I could bring in Burgess instead of Jiath and pocket the money. Burgess should have the ruck role as his for the next few weeks which should mean points around the ground.

Young > Burgess
Dow > Robbo

Thoughts on this trade

I think in your case I'd fine some way of getting Young up to someone you're reasonably confident in (Cummings/Jiath/an actual premo).

Burgess might be alright for a week or two if he keeps the ruck role but he's too under-sized for it to last imo and you don't want to have to be playing three defensive rooks.

So of the 6 possible trades so far, how many have been forced for you?

I'm at 4 (Rowell, Caldwell, Young, Cogs) but I'm sure there are people out there who have all 6 when you consider Dangerthug, Witts, Heppell, etc).

And no, Patty Dow doesn't count.
Danger
Caldwell
Webster (didn't trade)
Cogs
Witts
Young

I agree with Rion.

Port play Friday, so you'll know if Bergman is named. If not, I would be getting rid of him and Young... if you have 18K in the bank, you can get Jiath and a 170K rookie, a little bit more and it's Cumming instead of Jiath.

You currently have four players that are not scoring you any points or cash (Berg, Hunter, Young and Briggs) with possibly more (Kosi, Brockman).

Spud or not, at least Dow is scoring something, and he's not really bleeding cash.

Who else has the Witts/Young forced trade combo this week and what are your plans?

Flynn on field, trade Witts to a rook (any position with DPP moves) and then could use the spare cash to go Young to Titch.

Or bring in Hind as a non owner and use the cash next week?

Titch will drop a lot in $$'s this week and maybe even next. You can afford to wait on him. Hind looks very good

I've gone Witts down to a rook (Robertson or Burgess) and going Young up to either Gaff or Sloane. I would look at Lloyd or Hind but I don't really want my trades locked in so early.

Hmm currently thinking Witts to Sloane Clark to Dev means putting Flynn on field against Grundy though

Could also go Witts to Grundy and a rookie down to a 170k player (Highmore or Kozi)
