Can just see Flynn and Briggs coming in for Friday, GWS getting whacked by the Bulldogs and then Leon brings Mummy back in the week after in his drive to save his job.

I can live with this outcome.....

Berry will be rested soon .... i’d suggest it’ll be Berry out, Pedlar in

Pedlar is some player ... coming back from an abdominal strain & probably needs another 2 weeks in the SANFL

Get him in your side when he’s named
Im thinking Hately instead. Pedlar is an absolute gun, but is coming of an injury and needs more time in the SANFL to build his fitness base.

Next week will be my 1st upgrade (I'm so excited, feels like I'm losing my virginity) with Gulden > rookie (cheap) and Fullarton > RO'B, I can't afford either of the 2 big dogs but I feel he's the next best of the 2nd tier.
Is this a good move?
I have to target value picks from here on with 10 upgrades and have to prioritise the ruckline which was my plan from the outset with playing all rookies on that line.
I'm doing ok with the premiums I picked and just need to fill (after R1 & R2) D5-6, M7-8 and F3-6 (which is my 2nd headache after the rucks)

Where does Heppell stand in the scheme of things as a defender? Is he a premium?

Not with Ridley in the team IMO. Not enough ball to go round with both Hind and the Riddler taking a lot of those handball receives/+ 6's and kick ins. Will probably score well this week, but reckon it depletes the following week once Ridley returns

Fair call there. Sholl probably the better option around that price you reckon? And what do we need from our D6 at seasons end? Could we get away with a 90-95 from
Sholl?

I feel very behind in terms of being able to upgrade rookies. I'm still stuck getting rid of mid-pricers that have flatlined (Fantasia, Clark) + the slightly more expensive midpricers who haven't worked out (Phillips, Stepho, Serong) before I can get to the rookies. And then the problem with getting rid of these mid pricers is that by doing the one up / one down I'm just getting in more rookies. Not quite sure what to do about it.

I don't think so but that's JMO
He has had injury issues, more recently with his back and I do think that there are heaps of defenders to choose from. Would be handy to know who your other defenders are as he might be a good D6 if that's what you're looking for. Ridley, Daniel and May are on my radar, particularly around the byes for May.

You maybe correct .... but Hately appears a little out of favour in certain aspects of his game .... whereas it appears, injury aside, the clubs in a rush to get Pedlar in the side

2 failed midpricers to a proper premo and cash generating rookie.

Atm my defence is - Laird, Docherty, Hind, Cumming , Clark, Webster (Bergman, Idun) 10k in the bank so not a lot of room to move. Have Fantasia up forward so can do a DPP trade from defence

Give him a couple of games, his price will drop more and he might be a good pick up. Not for me as I'm targeting keepers
Yeah I have no intention of getting him but he seems pretty cheap. It’s shit he’s out for those who own him and you’re effectively selling him for massive unders.

It does depend on your circumstances. Do you have players with DPP that you can move around to help you improve things ??

This is good advice. As an example (just an example mind, you may not have these guys).

If you had Hind as a forward - you could.

Trade Clark - Switch Hind to Defender - bring in Macrae as a forward to replace Hind - pocket $180K (estimate) and use that to upgrade Fantasia in defence.

You could then have Hind (averaging 85 instead of Clark and someone like Short (depending on funds) - in defence - which is roughly a 40 point gain, plus a cash generating rookie.

You might drop 10 points from Clark to Macrae - but no guarantees there.... So you are up on points and cash generation.

Im getting Ziebell in this week. 140 last week and a breakeven of just 67 he will go massive against Fremantle. Freo will kick at least 20 behinds and Ziebell will run out of the square 20+ times for 60+ points and thats before you account for his standard 10 marks 10-15 kicks around the ground. Im expecting a 150 score from him this week.

Cash is always the problem, but Brodie Smith has had a bit of a role change and has pulled a 100, 98 and 101 from his last 3 games and his price is 618k. So Clark and Webster + 10k to Smith and maybe Briggs is an option.
Smith is not one of the Def shining lights but he should average (on current form) and score more points than Heppel.

Yeah definitely. My planned trades for the week are JDG -> Macrae and Fantasia/Clark to Treloar/Crouch. But I'm not really getting rookies off my field, infact I'm adding more. I guess I'm just getting worried because there's not going to be a Macrae to downgrade to every week.

I'm in the extremely unfortuante position of having copped JDG + Ridley last week, so also need to ensure I have enough defensive cover to keep Ridley for the week.

It's only 5 rounds down, so I wouldn't stress too much, as long as you actually have rookies that are going up in value.

Let's say you started with 2, 3, 1, 2 premos in each line, one midpricer each line and the rest rookies. That means you have 10 rookies on field to upgrade.

If you start this week, and aim to have the mythical "completed team" by after the byes, upgrading one per week will leave you only one short. Remember that we also get three trades per week during the byes, and it's actually feasible to be rid of all your onfield rookies .
