Yeah, I started mid-pricey which has had some wins and some losses. But I think from that point on it was important to slowly convert back to guns n rooks. I only want guns or rooks from here with my trades.

Picking up extra mid-priceys in an already mid pricey side could lead to being overloaded with overpriced underperformers.

Berry and Jones both look ready to go. I'd probably hold Berry though if you can because I honestly can't see why he's scoring so low. Such a good role.... I reckon it might just click at some point (if he isn't dropped that is..)
Yeah, Berry is a real headscratcher. Always there or thereabouts on the TV but just can't put together a solid fantasy score (would be curious to know how he's tracking in supercoach - my guess would be better than this format). His be of 40 is getting close to his recent output, which is my trigger for rookies.

Still not happy with my team. Cash gen a continual problem with rookies spudding up or being dropped before making enough money. :rainbow:

My thought there is that you are trading out a 59 and 77 average (136) for Ziebell (109 av) and a rookie that has played one game. If he gets another 80, great, but he could just as well spud it and get a 20 this week.

Meanwhile, there's a good possibility that you could end up with 5 or more DNPs on your bench this week...

Agree, although I'm not so keen to bring in Midpricers. I'm trying to work on the idea that each week's trades either get me a premo keeper, or a double downgrade giving cash for a premo the following week. This is why I'm very much leaning toward keeping Riley on the bench, Only traded him in last week, so I don't want to burn two trades getting him out and then back in later.

The other problem is that the spud rookies I have won't yield enough cash to get a premo, and the other rookies (with the exception of maybe Campbell) still have a bit of money to earn before I get rid of them. I have 28K in the bank after getting Ridley in last week

Right now, I'm looking at trading Meek out to Bergman in, which will leave me exactly zero in the bank. Options for the other trade are:

1. Phillips to a midpricer either MID or FWD (seems a bit silly to me as Phillips is still averaging 77 and plays Adelaide and St Kilda next two games)
2. Campbell to a fresh rookie and bank the change ( Will depend on team selections... if I lose any more players from the bench, it's getting pretty thin)
3. Fullarton, H Jones, Burgess or Lazzaro to a fresh rookie to provide a bit more bench (Would need to get a freshie that at least has a chance to make some coin)

Decisions, decisions...
I’m far from a mid price advocate, all trades have been geared towards guns and rooks thus far. Just in the case of having a spud rookie on field and a non playing bench rook, it’s a neat one off way to fix that which I think takes priority.

With what you’re saying I’d probably go Campbell > Macrae Jr and bank the coin for an upgrade next week considering you’ve already ditched a non playing rook with the other trade

Do you know anything about Jy Farrar? Because it doesn't sound like you do. Research, try it.
I don't need to. Yes, he played a game last season... scored 31 points. Yes, he had a good first game this season, scored 86. What is he going to do this week? Will it be a 31 or an 86?

As I said, if he scores an 80, then great, but if he spuds it for another 31, you haven't improved your team, and you still have an extremely thin bench.

Were you posting for people's advice, or just trying to tell everyone how good you are at Fantasy?

That's the way I'm actually leaning at the moment depending on teams.

Still ok to grab this week you reckon? BE still 41

Tough one, I got him in for his Round 2 spud score of 47 - At the SCG and Sholl was playing the opposite wing to where Adelaide were going every single time. So he's definitely capable of a bad score.

At $578k I think he's probably a bit steep now to be jumping on. He's certainly still going to have a sub 70 coming at some point which will effectively kill his prices rises in an instant and have most people jumping off for a Daniel or Ridley type. The Tassie game is this weekend so I would think it will hurt his game playing in windy conditions.

40 is a low BE though. He hasn't scored well, but it's so low even a 60 will knock it back down for a couple more weeks. He's not going to lose much money if he scores another 30.

In the past I've traded rookies too soon. It'll only take 1x 70+ score from Berry to refresh that BE and squeeze another $50k out of him.

Also despite his bad scores he's another one I would be ok throwing onto the ground in a pinch (or at the very least he is my mid emergency). His role is good and still learning. His job security has also been good thus far (touch wood).

EDIT: Just had a gander over at the crows board and they rate him very highly. Doesn't sound like he's getting dropped any time soon.

Not advocating for him but that was as a forward where he also averaged 30 at Sanfl level. If he plays in backline or plays at all, and if being the key as people come back from injury, I think 30s are off the table with how junky we are playing in the backline. I think that's what he was getting at

What's his JS like?

Looking at Webster>Macrae
Clark>Fyfe

The long hard slog of 1 improvement each week begins.. touch wood

That's all fair enough, but he's still played one game this season. If he's going to be used as cover for players coming back from injury, that could also mean playing in different positions, which will in turn affect his output.

If you were getting him in as a bench player only, and you have plenty of other bench cover, then using it as a way to get to a premo like Ziebell makes sense. When your bench is already very thin, it's too risky for me.

That's what I was getting at, and I don't appreciate people coming back telling me to do my research when they were the one asking for opinions in the first place...

He is actually on my list of players to look at for a possible trade in, so I was never dismissing him completely.

Would appreciate any thoughts on this weeks trades... first season playing this and so still working out a strategy!
At the moment I've penciled in -

Phillips - F. Macrae
Webster - Sholl

Leaving 179k in the bank for next week.

What's his JS like?
He gives 110% which will be the reason he plays if he plays, but it is shaky. McCreery would be a safer option in my eyes for JS, and Macrae of course also, however I have brought him in this week as I think his scoring potential is the best of the bunch alongside Macrae

So after staring at my team for a while I get more & more sick thinking about all the injuries and failed trades. Hoping to begin the long road back in my league after resigning myself to the fact i wont end up on a decent overall ranking. So with that in mind thoughts on my current trades?

Team.PNG
Have shuffled majority of my DPP mids into the middle of the park to see what it looks like (Fwds...). Only thing my team has going for it at the moment is the abundance of DPP which should give me some flexibility in coming weeks trades.

Bringin back X & Y from the pre-season.

Who would you rather have F. Macrae and Crouch or a rookie (to be named this week, assuming there is one) and one of Neale or Treloar? Rookie would be on bench.

I'm thinking I might just play a straight bat now (it was a fun rage trade sitch with Buddy in) but probably good he's injured so I can go back to those on my favourites list - of which Crouch is one of them and Fin Macrae was the other. Beauty is he never gets tagged and can't kick for sh*t, so teams don't bother with him, haha.

Short 12K from my preferred Crisp trade in, and even further short of Treloar (f*cking thrift shop Dusty) - so reckon Crouch has just about bottomed out - was already underpriced but under 700K is good value -, and should be good for the rest of the season (still scored 86 in a side that got smacked and he did very little)
