Gotta love hypothetical trade time at this point of the year.

Saw this pop up on facebook from bombers fans (no idea why I get them) and seems they have spent too much time tracking Dodo.

Essendon trade pick 11 and a future 2nd rounder, for Marshall, pick 16 and a future third rounder.

Can only laugh at the bombers at times
It’s not actually that laughable when a lot of people have said they would do 16 + Hayes or Marshall for dawson
Pick 11 would land us dawson and we could prob ask for a future 2nd rounder in return as well. So we would get dawson and 2 future 2nds for 16 Marshall and future 3rd
That’s not to bad in thinking we would finish quite high again and both those teams could slide

Awful. Both Sydney and Essendon were younger and less experienced team than us and still made finals, Sydney really should have made a semi final. Why would there be any significant slide?

Still think Will Brodie could be a good option from the Suns.

Inside mid who for whatever reason never gets the opportunity others have at the Suns. Had some very solid games with average ones. Similar to Butcher, as soon as he has an average game he seems to be dropped.

I reckon Narkle would be perfect for us if he was played as a fulltime mid and we got him for a token pick. He's exactly what we're crying out for and *could* be an elite player one day. Getting him along with Dawson (and Petty) would be close to a perfect off season for us in terms of trading.

We're not gonna get Petty. At the start of the year it might have been realistic, but he's now established himself in Melbourne's 22 and there's a good chance he'll be a premiership player in a couple of weeks' time. Why would he leave?

Because I can’t see buddy kicking 50 again and they don’t have much else up forward and they’ll lose dawson plus maybe others with there salary squeeze and Essendon I think did a lot better then expected they’ll be inconsistent still for a couple of years

A couple of years ? There’s a good chance he’ll be a premiership player in a week and a half.

That said, we need a big defender and he’s a young SA lad so let’s ask the question. If he’s not interested, so be it.

Des Headland? Scott Lycett? Jarrad Schofield? Joel Hamling?

If we get Dawson and feel Bonner can step up as a flanker, place Burton, DBJ or Houston on the trade block for an inside mid.

I don't disagree but I'm not sure the player we need is actually available.

I think we're probably more likely to put Dawson the wing and tell Duursma its his time to shine and an in/out combo and/or give Amon more on-ball minutes.

Then tell one of DBJ and Houston (or both) to train with the mids all pre-season and force their way in or **** off.

Dawson is a quality player. Lets say we get it done, we then have Dawson, Houston, Jones, Burton, DBJ, Bergman who are all very similar types. You prob only play 3 of them in defence. Houston has to become a full time mid, Rozee and Butters prob do too. I would def look to see what you can get for DBJ.

Also, if i am Tom Clurey, i am asking if Jonas is skipper next year. If so, i would ask for a move. Clurey is a better player than Jonas now and will only become more apparent next year.

Agreed.

Jonas has already dropped off with age, I expect another massive drop off next year.

Georgiades takes Motlop's spot.

Williams is gunning for Gray.
McEntee is gunning for Fantasia.
Lord is gunning for Marshall.
Williams is a super talent, but i reckon i am fitter. He has to decide whether he wants to play AFL. His game against Sydney was embarrassing in the sense that he was absolutely gassed at QT. Its also worth noting, most of his SANFL goals come up early. His fitness is sub SANFL standard too.

Yeah Nah. Williams, McEntee, and Lord are way off AFL standard. McEntee is the best of the three and still won't go past Fantasia.

Didn't Dawson spend alot of time on the wing this season? I think his heat map has him nearly 50-50 for forward & back-half possessions.

I reckon we can have our cake and eat it too with Rozee and Butters as mid-forwards as long as Boak is performing and/or Amon steps inside more. I'm not sure Houston can play mid-fwd but Bergman and Duursma can.

Drew I see as being more of the defensive mid, at least against the better teams.

We have the potential to bat pretty deep in our midfield rotation but the younger players have to step up sooner rather than later.
