You are right. His last few games were first class. He was like a different player. It started when the media started raising the subject of Clarkos recruiting and if it had failed. Chad's name was brought up consistently as a failed recruit. Then Clarko announced he was leaving. It's no coincidence thats when his performance improved. Take what you will from that .

The timeline was him being bashed in the media from all angles for that 1 minute + spray he gave Koschitzke.

After the heat was on him in the media from that he stepped up massively.

Chad and Mitchell both 28 and O'Meara 27 whilst Mitchell the only one who hasn't had major injury issues, so would not want to part with too much for any of them.

Umm, i feel dirty for quoting / linking not my abc, but this was rather major!

Finlayson lol

While we're at it let's recruit Gary Rohan too

Everyone is tradable for the right price its just this isn't American sports and the players here have far more control over what happens. Also salary caps and other restrictions limit what trades can be achieved.

AFL is also a slightly different sport to something like NBA where you only have 5 on at a times so one massive trade can take you from also rans to contesters.

If Todd Marshall is a whipping boy wait to this board sees more of Brander. Soft with no redeeming features.

I mean Wingard is basically the inside mid we need, hell yes we should be interested
So we are going to the Trade table looking for bull inside mids who win contested ball, based on our game on Saturday Night.
What part of that equation does Wingard fit.
His selfish attitude lost us a final against WC a few years back.

We lost that final because a lower-ranked team with nothing to lose stormed our Bastille and we found ourselves down 13-44 early in the second quarter.

Wingard wasn’t present four years later when an oddly similar thing happened.

The reason is because the toxic culture created by Wingard's presence still needs time to dissipate. Give it a few more years and we'll start to see the benefits of that trade :)

I keep forgetting. We just have to remain patient — a display of courage worthy of the Victoria Cross — and it’ll all fall into place this time.

That Wingard kick in the EF was dumb but what was also dumb was that we had zero players in the forward line at that time. Talk about work hardery, legitimately zero forwards did the work hardery to be in the forward line

+1 for Rozee and Butters hitting the gym.

Rozee doesn’t run in straight lines, because he is so light and quick. When his body is built up, and he knows he can run through tackles, look out. I’d prefer him to play less game time, and as a full time mid, and start getting used to the combative needs of being a midfielder.

Both are still 2-3 years away of being full time mids.

As opposed to not taking the advantage on the free kick that was paid to Dan Houston and creating the stop play that would have allowed us to play down the clock.
I am often surprised at the amount of people who make excuses for Wingard when he clearly had attitude problems that were effecting the group.
I mean who goes on a Club Trip as a group but takes a playstation?

Looking at our list, DBJ is very tradeable. He was an all australian last year and in contract. Surely we would get a good deal for him? I remember when he first came to Port he was very homesick. This year he played like he wanted to go home. I'm sure plenty of Victorian clubs would want him. I just think we have too many almost very good players who are capable of being very average. Marshall and Ladhams get some slack because they are tall. Houston because he was injured. DBJ and SPP for Dawson and a nice pick for a KPD. Use pick 16 on a mid.

We really just need spp to become a good mid. It would make such a difference. Bergman goes forward and runs alot. Williams gets fit. The shame is that I can't see it happening.
SPP’s lack of improvement as a mid (or in general) is a major disappointment. He’ll never be a 25+ possession gathering midfielder
