Skinner was quiet in the prelim final.

Re Petty, if Clurey was a Melbourne player and Petty was a Port player, would we want to trade Petty for Clurey? Does Petty look better being in a premiership team and is he really much of an upgrade based on the cost?

We could have got Petty for nothing last year. He's only playing because of Tomlinsons injury. Petty's made the most of his chances and won a flag so good on him. We just need more committed players but that really comes down to the environment. #sackken

Sell the farm for horne

we desperately need him

take ya pick of any of our players ( except the young guns)

tell north he will come home anyway in 2 years, do what some of the Victorian kids do.

It’s pettys age that is appealing. At the moment I’m not sure whether petty will be just a serviceable key defender or good key defender or very good key defender. There’s a bit to like but he’s not obviously a gun.
Can’t see us being any chance to getting him this off-season but should sound him out and try again next year when he’s ooc.

We have nothing we would want to let go that comes close to what they would want…

And if we convinced them he would come home they would do a deal with the crows, so that would backfire massively lol.

The only thing we can do is stay in touch with him and let hin know we want him to come back and stay competitive enough to be a desirable destination and hope he does come back

we Have players, 1st round pick and future first round picks, if we are creative we could get it done.

he won’t end up at crows, they have no chance.

let’s fast track the inevitable.

They’re not going to take teen picks for pick 1, nor would they take fringe players or even just good players.

It would take nothing less than butters + a draft pick to sway them, and we aren’t going to do that.

Package up a few of our hb flankers

be bold, take a risk..we Have plenty of players they would be interest in. Particularly if Horne is a flight risk

Petty looks great next to Lever and May the only advantage he has over Clurey or McKenzie is age.

As for getting pick 1... People need to remember a stack of crap doesn't add up to pick 1. Unless Norths list manager has a complete meltdown or someone like Petracca decides he wants a new challenge you don't trade that pick away. Sure we can ask the question but they'd probably ask for Wines Butters and pick 16.

Anyone who proposes a trade where there’s two or more picks/players going in one direction then the other should be banned for the day, as a first offence.

The first rule of trading is quantity <> quality. Substitute Wines for Horne, then pick similar draft picks and fringe players and tell us if you’d do it.

Anyone who watched the 2nd half of that game last night should have seen the Dee's dominance eventuated from Gawn ( and Jackson) continually giving opportunities to their midfielders, which resulted in the game opening right up for their forward line and reduced the dogs to sporadic forward entries that were easily mopped up by the Melbourne defenders.
King Tut's mummy would have been more effective than Martin last night.

The club has to get Hayes into AFL action from the get go next season to find out if he has the goods to get it done at AFL level, plus pick up at least one quality mid who can break the lines and deliver the ball accurately, but that will be very difficult to get done in a trade, and it is more likely from a draft pick(s), plus development time.

Re the potential trade bit, unless his legs and arms are now only painted on the little bloke we traded to the squawkers has to be worth a close look if as reported he wants to come home, and if he ends up at the flipping fruit tingles.:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Where was it reported Chad wants to come home? If that's true the club would be negligent not to do its due diligence on him. What Hawthorn would expect for him might rule him immediately. Additionally, would he would want to come back to Port, and would he be prepared to agree to a reasonable contract.

Two primary considerations would be whether his attitude towards training and getting the best out of himself has changed. We would also have to consider how his body will hold up having missed six games through injury last year. Unfortunately he is a shorter term fix because of his age turning 29 in mid 2022. We would also be taking on some risk that his body holds up.

On the positive side he is a proven midfielder who had a pretty good year in a team that struggled. He has the skills we need but can also play inside. We also know that he would be able to finish his career as small forward with x factor which might give add a couple of years to his career, although that might prevent the likes of Williams and possibly Farrell developing at AFL level. An intangible is that he certainly in his earlier career was a big game player and has always liked the big stage.

Definitely Hayes has to be given games early in the season to gauge what his impact would be in our best 22. Though he is a warrior I get the feeling Lycett would be all the better anyway for not playing all games next season. And if Hayes turns out to be giving us a lot of first looks then Lycett will find himself struggling to get back into the team.

It gets down to the question of do we try to win a premiership in the next couple of years, making it difficult to develop some younger players and possibly recruit some players who are in their mid twenties. Or do we draft and trade in some younger players (those we can get) and develop them at the risk of some short term pain for a longer term gain.

Would be quite happy if we get Elliot Yeo

Did they even have him down back this week?

He started there but they pushed him forward later in the game when they were trying to get a goal from a player aged over 17.

Daniel talia please.
