Club says players have returned in good shape so hard to argue I guess, but we still look far too skinny imo. Would like to have seen some add more bulk during their break.
In December, January and Feb every club feels they're winning the premiership the next season.Love the club propaganda this time of year, how great a condition the players are in as they come back to the club, how wonderful their attitude is etc

Well, Adelaide must be close...'young Worrell had a big night on the cans and went DUI, Stengle fell foul of our 11 strikes and you're out policy, we've given our all time club great Andrew McLeodYeah never heard a club say 'geez, blokes have had a BIG off-season - skin folds are way up, times are way down...hell, we havnt seen Smitthy and think he may be holed up in a Bali jail somewhere'

I just hope he gets a good run injury free. Improved fitness, confidence. Could really make a difference for us.
I feel like he could be an option to replace Jones in a couple of years. If we can turn Jones into a defender, why not him.
McGovern is a real interesting one. His season on season game tally/stats are terrible. His averages are terrible. He only shows up for 5 minutes in games to the naked eye which is terrible. His poor averages also include his time for a top 4 side which has assisted him In Adelaide....which is terrible. A side that prided itself on giving a goal away to a teammate.
Despite all this, he has everyone convinced that he is an amazing player if things click.
Put him up against a ‘standard‘ third tall forward like Tom Lynch, and he pales into insignificance....against just an ok to good player.
I personally see Silvagni as a Tom lynch clone. It is jack who is young, it is jack who is playing in a bottom team and it is jack who is serviced by midfielders with terrible inside 50 kicks. It will be jacks determination that will see him go past a McGovern who will call for the bench in round 5 after a butterfly accidentally brushes his cheek.
But through all this, I won’t call him fat or brackets.
McGovern is a smart player and in his 5 min bursts shows he could be a game breaker. But as you correctly put it, he has never really done it. Im not sure he ever will and could go down as a massive bust. I would love to see him as 3rd fiddle to Harry and Charlie but doubt it will happen as someone (including Gov) is always injured.
Jack Silvagnias the third tall is as big a myth on these boards as anything else. never seen it and dont think it will happen - he is a utility player, not a third tallPLAYERCARDSTART1Jack Silvagni

Pretty much any player playing third tall in our forward line the last three/4 years never had a chance. Remember Weitering got given a shot in our dysfunctional forward line and almost lost his way completely after it.
Lets see JSOS this year with Saad, Williams and an improved Setterfield removing Cripps, Murphy and Ed as the inside 50 kicker.
Not sure if you saw the photos of Weiters and particularly Harry on the AFL site. Harry looks like he has gone full beast mode.Club says players have returned in good shape so hard to argue I guess, but we still look far too skinny imo. Would like to have seen some add more bulk during their break.
Gov replacing Jones as a KPD? I doubt that would be the plan
No-one saw Jones becoming a defender. Never say never.

Gov a general defender/ 3rd tall,closure, , not a key defender
Gut running is still a problem at Catlton. Strange given Wayne Harmes (1979) invented it. Very pleasing Power, who comes from a winning culture, calls it out. Indicates Cottrell should play more often than not.I'm not exactly sure what you mean. What do you mean?
EDIT - OK, I get it now. They don't walk in contest and run from one contes to another.....like Sam Walsh.PLAYERCARDSTART18Sam Walsh

Loved the little we were allowed to see of Walsh in his first pre-season. (Bolton closed the gates on us way too often.)
Never seen a first year player outwork senior players the way he did. Great example of how to go about things.
Interchange limit is getting smaller so blokes have to get fitter and leaner - you wont be seeing massive blokes for a while.
Ring Ita Buttrose-Herald Sun readers hereNicknames are ok but, I don’t like the derogatory stuff either. I get the Gov stuff in particular. Jeremy isn’t a picture of Adonis either. And he is not known for his dedication to training or squeaky clean diet. Interesting he has been doing some hammies of late though. It always catches up as you get older. Gov seems to be on the right track so far.
Was more referring to the med/smalls in the side. He was always going to put size on. The guns don't mean much though, more about the thighs and shoulders that you want to get bigger.Harry has put on size
