Myth. At no time this year has Martin looked dangerous starting in the midfield.

He's a quality player that can be seen to make good anywhere at times, but his best is playing forward where he spooks the opposition and manufactures plenty from little opportunity.

Not saying he's not capable, but he's simply more capable elsewhere.

It's a weird thing how desperate some posters are to see players that have plied their trade elsewhere, used in the centre;
Martin, Docherty, JSilvagni, CCurnow etc etc when we can't even get our genuine midfielders utilised through the midfield; Fisher, SPS, Dow etc.

There was no mention of centre bounces, round the ground stoppages, boundary throw ins, etc, etc.

This just goes back to you pigeon holing a player, in just one position.

Why would you make up lies to seemingly bolster your own point of view. Full strawman......again.

Where have I said that Fogarty is a certain starter? Where have I pigeon-holed a player as only capable of playing one position.?
You can play any player anywhere, but that doesn't mean you'll maximise their potential and abilities.
I've always claimed to play players in positions that suit them best, instead of manufacturing stuff for the sake of it.

Did you listen to one of the coaches a few weeks back that suggested that the club wants to settle their line-up and positions (paraphrasing)?
Do you actually listen to anyone ...or have you convinced yourself you're beyond that

Let's have a discussion about things, but let's not....'stretch' our imagination to see things that weren't ever there. How about that?

Martin is a better player than all of them aside from perhaps Fish and the point is they burst in midfield and then push forward and kick goals, which Martin is particularly good at and will only get better, especially when method into F50 is fixed.

Don't need Martin's assistance in the midfield 24/7 but when he does he plays well there, beautiful kick into F50, hopefully a crowd of some significance can be there for round 1, seems like the type of player that would light up on the big stage.

Big 2021 needed for Dow, Cunningham, Obrien.

Saad/Williams and Martin will be massive for us in '21.

Most looking forward to Saad in the backline with that speed and Williams in midfield/backline, Martin was pretty good in 2020, but the ceiling is still quite high for him.

Pretty ineffective from what I saw.
Took that one game off Murphy early in the season after Murphy floundered and rarely used thereafter, along with Gibbons, Cuningham.
Had a total of 7 centre square clearances for the year.....Simpson had 4, Gibbons 3 and even Docherty had 1.

Same thing will come about as per most years; 4 or 5 get the most activity and others filter through as required thereafter, dependent on injuries, rotations etc
Cripps, Setterfield, Williams, ECurnow and Walsh will likely be the most used, other than ruckmen.

Would be nice to see a Dow or Stocker involved a lot more heavily though, but that's up to them. They have the ability and the tricks.

He was regularly part of the, very few, mid field rotations. No doubt he is very capable elsewhere, he proved that mid is part of that capability. Centre clearance alone doesn’t tell the story of midfield impact: tackles, pressure acts, negation and even being part of the clearance chain tell an overall impact. I’m relying on the eye test to see that we looked dynamic with Martin in the midfield.

Since the disappearance of General Aph from the ship, the usual order has declined. Yesterday I found a hamburger in the control room and Spocks missing Tricorder was found in the kitchen under a turkey sandwich.

The point is, some people believe he is just as effective in the middle/roaming in other parts of the ground, as up forward, despite your " will be based purely in forward 50" propaganda

Some refreshing news from the track. Saad is loving his time already, club has delivered on everything they promised. The big difference from us and * is that it's all about what's best for the team! team! team!...whack *!
