Yup, watched a heap of it as a teenager from 2002-2008 when it would be re-run just before the ABC News Bulletin. I've watched each episode multiple times, though I've rewatched more Yes Prime Minister the most and season 1 of Yes Minister the least.

The books are marvelous as well

My take on the 1st qtr
We are kicking flatter into the forward line
Forwards playing in front
Fullarton getting a fair bit of a run in ruck and doing reasonably well.

Watching a game shot at a wide angle makes me very mad about how useless the zoomed in frames we get in tv coverage are. Its so much easier to pick up structural things if you can see more than a 10m radius.

Ely Smith has looked up to the level, set up Danihers second goal and looks composed in traffic. The wing spot is his for the taking. Our forward line has looked really dangerous so far, will create nightmares this season.

Rowell is an absolute beast, he is ridiculously strong for a second year player.

Agreed. Would be good to get the option when watching to either have what they now supply or choose to have the wide view when you want to. They have the technology surely.

Only watched the first 10 minutes but our skill and pressure has been great.

Zac Bailey's speed around the contest could be a game changer for us

By my count the suns staff/family member/random supporter who somehow got in has called for a 50 for the SUNS 9 times late into the second quarter.

Calling the umpire a clown counter: 2

Immediately afterwards it leads to Daniher's fourth: "Terriffic Goal Umpire, terriffic goal. Try to explain your STUPIDITY!"

You kicking out Clug or Bailey?

Robinson’s spot is the one that is up for grabs.
Bailey and Hugh are guaranteed starters.
Robinson is the one who appears under pressure.

Only a few minutes in but it looked like Ely and Hugh are the starting wingers. Bailey has been playing inside (Zorko's old role). Starting inside group is Neale, Rayner and Bailey for the first few minutes

It's looking like that when either Hugh or Bailey are playing inside Ely is then lining up on the wing. So far I've seen Ely, Hugh, JL and Berry starting on the near side wing. Hard to see what's happening on the far side wing with the camera work.

Not sure what to say about Ah Chee playing defense. Made too many mistakes in that game for my liking.

Not sure about Lyons on the wing. Hopefully it's just to give others more time on the ball
Yeah looked like a lot of rotation going on. Saw even Neale on the far wing once. Generally we seem to have a bigger bodied player as the interchange wing (Ely seems to be there the most) with a smaller winger (Hugh/Bailey and others but hard to see) on the far wing.

Other observations:
  • Think I saw Oscar take more boundary throw-ins from front position. Was a bit of a criticism last year that he got caught behind too much. Hopefully he changes that up.
  • Midfield and forward line are reasonably sharp. Joe and Hipwood look dangerous. Will feast if they get decent ball kicked in. Agree that we are looking at nice low passes in
  • Backline looked a little rusty so far. Starc and Ah Chee dropped or mis-kicked a few. Early days though
  • Mostly didnt mind the new mark rules. Lot of dangerous kicks causing fast play. Zorko milked a 50 on the far side. Smart players will definitely take advantage of that. There will be outrage when it results in a goal
