The coverage of the game is so weird.

The rush to anoint Burrow (kid is good, let's wait for him to accomplish some things first please, he isn't outplaying Mahomes, he outplays defences).

The insinuation that the Bengals are some buzzsaw that have walked through everyone. They are a really solid team that play mistake free football.
People look at the weapons and think oh they must be blowing teams out. Not really, they just don't make mistakes and play sound football. Which serves them well in the playoffs. But they aren't loaded with superstars on every line like say the 49ers, yet the coverage makes it seem they are.

Their wins against the Chiefs have all been by 3 points. In two of them they were down 18 and 14 points.
They have not been blowouts where either team has been dominating for the win.

Last time they played they had their full Oline, and chiefs were without their best Oline piece in Thuney. They didn't have two of their more dynamic weapons in Toney or Mecole.
This time chiefs are full go, and Bengals will be missing Oline help.

This will be a really tight game, I don't think the coverage and discussion has matched the closeness of the teams though.

This should be considered an absolute coin flip.
I do think Bengals will win, mainly because I think they are primed to attack our LBs in the middle of the field. But I don't think it's going to be totally one sided.

Chiefs now favored again...

Not surprised its swung back around, the Chiefs being home outsiders with Mahomes starting too much to resist for bettors, doesn't happen often (only once that Aussiedude discovered)

7 votes for Kansas city compared to 27 for Cincinnati. Can’t believe there’s that much of a gap between voters even with mahomes ankle. Cincinnati were great against buffalo but Kansas city are a step above.

Is hardman confirmed back in? Missed alot of football last half of the year. Definitely gives the chiefs that x factor

Bengals have had the edge over them of late, 3-0. Bengals really are firming themselves into potential dynasty mode just when the Chiefs did so as well. But they have to win a SB. It reminds me of the early UFC days....a champion would emerge who'd destroy everyone, and then all of a sudden a new guy would beat him, become champ, run the table on everyone, looks to be unbeatable, then a new guy would emerge.

Chiefs are on the brink. Either they bounce back and reassert themselves as the dynasty team, sending the Bengals back in their place. Or, the Bengals yet again beat the Chiefs, and thats the end of the Chiefs run, as the Bengals now dominate the AFC for 3-5 years.

The way Mahomes/Chiefs were destroyed by Bowles/Bucs really showed they are beatable, and the Bengals have done the same to them since....very specific defensive strategy is always the boss

With a win Sunday the Cincinnati Bengals would become the first team to knock out the #1 seed of their conference in consecutive seasons.

The NFL began playoff seeding in 1975.

The only team to knock out the #1 seed of the opposing conference in consecutive seasons was the 1988/89 [](/SF) San Francisco 49ers (SB XXIII vs Bengals, SB XXIV vs Broncos).

No other team has knocked out the #1 seed from either conference in consecutive seasons.

Bonus:

With a win Sunday the Cincinnati Bengals would join the 2010/11 New York Jets as the only teams to win 2+ road playoff games in consecutive seasons.

The Cris Collinsworth Mahomes dick riding has a lot to do with this. People want to see Mahomes fail. Burrow not at that level yet. But soon enough people will get tired of him too. Thats the way of the world.

I've had a healthy bet on Toney over 35.5 receiving yards this week. I feel a big game is coming. They were really looking at getting him involved last week. Could be a difference maker this week like you said.

But like GG said, Bengals have a very good record vs the Chiefs. Thats why myself and I'm sure others are selecting them.

Yeah I know of the recent record against the chiefs. I tend to think very good teams just figure it out. I mean one of these games Reid and mahomes just find a way and all of the sudden a 3 game streak is over. I don’t think the bengals can’t win I just think it’s basically a flip of the coin especially cause of mahomes ankle. But 27-7 is a clear cut favourite.

Yeah I see what you’re saying here. Recently we’re used to what New England did and in reality it just doesn’t happen. I read earlier about guys saying mahomes record in afc champ games being 2-2 and possibly 2-3 and I think so much goes into looking for negatives instead of sitting back and appreciating how hard it is to get to 5 in the first place.

The bengals are now in thier 2nd and might not get in another for a couple years who knows. Look at buffalo and how good they’ve looked at times and only made it once in the last 3.

And the bucs and Bowles defense had Kansas city ripe for the picking. Oline decimated and the bucs could really get after the qb. It’s the recipe for all defenses unless your burrow and think sacks are overated haha

the chiefs arent this unbeatable side and I actually like watching burrow and the bengals. It’s going to be a ripper.. just thought the poll would be closer that’s all

Not as yet but he will be active I believe. First week he has been limited in all practices.
Probably kept in for jet sweeps or a handful of snaps.

Chiefs will most likely also name Fortson their 4th tight end. (That move is why we lost Special teams guy Lammons when the Bengals claimed him, we were going to resign to Practice squad then elevate).

The 4th TE will probably be due to us playing out of heavier packages to get some protection but also run the ball better. Probably more screens too.
May be the Alex Smith playbook.

Nah disagree, chiefs can lose of course but as far as this "run" this was already a step back year. We got younger and we got cheaper.
Still some work to be done at tackle and Dline but we are very healthy cap wise going forward and with draft capital.

Bengals sure may be ok but that price tag of Burrow/Higgins/chase aint getting smaller. Chiefs have shown that even with a massive Mahomes contract(though very team friendly) they can still compete at the very top. Can the Bengals do it? A dynasty or sustained success is no guarantee. This and next year are their best shot with the players they have on rookie deals.
