Was our 4 interviews an attempt to come to an alignment on how his personality would/would not fit?
Make of this what you will but watch Pou's face when he's giving online interviews. He keeps looking above and to the sides of the camera lense. I think he's been coached and given prompts. The best way to get to know him is to ask him questions face to face. I think that would be a reason teams (especially in relation to characters like Pou) would be doing multiple interviews. You cannot rely on the online ones too much.

Also I just listened to the Cal and Riley interview with philippou (I believe we are all contractually obliged to say it was on afl.com.au), anyone who says that is an arrogant person is projecting their own insecurities.
He spoke well; clearly, confidently and didn’t give the false modesty or the cliche one week at a time answers we all say we hate but do we really given some of the behaviour here as a reaction? It was made out like he spoke like Le Bron, but he was exactly how I hope my children develop to be, personable, honest and confident. I thought he showed appreciation for his fathers contribution and his comments about starting position were exactly on point. He is definitely someone I would be rapt to welcome at our club.
Pou? I'm sure your kids will be similar to you given the old wise "the apple doesn't FIGJAM too far from the tree" saying.

Wasn’t there a rumour a few weeks ago that hawks were considering jefferson with pick 6? So maybe he’s higher in our order that the media rankings. The dees trade makes a lot more sense in that context (as almost every mock draft has jefferson making it to the dees - eagles prob the risk).

We don’t mind picking skinnier kids. Jefferson has as much upside / a grade potential as anyone outside the top handful. Needs time to put on size but that’s fine.

There’s been hundreds of posts on how we need to take a few calculated risks.

Won't happen

"The Hawks are going to be in a good spot to bring in a midfielder with a point of difference. Mackenzie has that with his height"

I think there's a fair bet that Twomey reads these forums, based on this opening sentence :tearsofjoy:

They also release up to three “mock drafts” so when it drops they can say they got it right

Phillipou said in his interview on Friday he couldn't give too much away about where he was going which said to me he has a guarantee from Essendon or us.

I would be absolutely staggered if Essendon didn't take him.

Would we really pull out a McPharlin (WA smokey selection) at this stage of the rebuild?

Board would be melt central.
Stranger things have happened Gowers played along side Ben Allen on the wing in the 1991 premiership team he might’ve been in his ear .If there is one WA kid that we’d ever take a punt on it would be Ed Allen I would’ve thought .

I like mackenzie, hope we get him by trading back, but if we keep 6 and pass on pou, ill be filthy hahaha
If Cal is right, trading out of top 10 will ensure we get none of McKenzie, Tsatas, Humphrey, Phillipou. From what we know about McKenzie and what we need, I think he will be an outstanding choice. The fact that we are happy to get any of those 4 suggests all of them are an upgrade on our existing midfield.

If Ed is half as good as Ben we would be laughing, loved his 55 metre kicks out of the middle. Ed looks quite athletic, obviously taller. Ben would have to have been close to one of our best midfielders before he left.

Our midfield is the worst in the comp by a mile. And we just shifted Tom and Jom out of the club.
I'm loading up on as much talent in there as possible. Not all of them will make it.
It all comes down to strategy to become premiership contender again, whether you build from middle first or out. It is not like we did not go after midfielders last year. If you get your forward line, wing, back line sorted out first, I take it you will be lower down the ladder for longer, then go after midfielders. Without an excellent midfield you will not win many games regardless of how good your backline/forward line is.

We probably got rid of Tom to give more time to Worpel in the middle. They did not seem to work well together.

The Pou

What are the knocks on Ed Allan?

At his size, speed and pedigree he seems a top 10er.

Kicking? Tank? Defense?

The only player that I wasn’t excited about (even though I think he’ll have a good career) is Clark. It’s really hard to be disappointed by Mackenzie, Tsatas or Phillipou. Mackenzie may not be a sexy as they other two but he’s exactly what we need.

I really had hoped the Suns would take Ginbey so that we would have the option of Humphrey but it doesn’t seem very likely now.

I believe our draft hand will be 6,24,35,36,65 if not better than that I will be applying for a position as a hawks recruiter at that’s the easiest hand to orchestrate.
My realistic picks:
6-tsatas/philippou
24-Hotton/Jones
35-Jones/Long
36-Magor/D’Aloia
65-Vickery
Rookie-Lawrence
If we got any of those picks I would be over the moon. There are of course others I would be happy with too but that’s where I have settled

Yep, this is the baseline. Any decision we take should be to improve from this.

Given that McCabe is not in AFL academy, I am not expecting him to be round 1, maybe late round 2, hence I would have no qualms to put F2(WB), F3, F4(lions) on table as base cases to improve hand either directly or in trade offers that may come in

I was the same, not excited about Clark, but I’ve changed my perspective a bit.

It’s not that I’m not excited by him, it’s that I’m not excited by him at Pick 7. We definitely need him (his type), I just think there will be better players available to us.

If we were to trade down from 6 (7) & ended with Clark, whilst bolstering our Draft hand, then I’d be pretty happy.

Comes down to our rating if we have players like Pou Clark Mackenzie all the same we must trade down we must use our assets to gain more assets we are so limited in what we have to offer we must maximise it. Essentially we must pick players at our picks that would be picked with the next pick that’s the art
