I never said to change alphas reg season waiver system.

All i said was when the draft ends, theres no need on FF to close the league for a month. You can have pre-season waivers, either nightly or once a week, leading up to week 1.

On espn you have to shut the league down in august because you cant finalize the draft, as waivers immediately starts but stays free for all thruout august.

In FF you can finalize the draft, have waivers thru august (every wed say with no free for all), and when week 1 starts revert back to reg season system (process wed, free for all after).

So why tf would you want to change waivers in pre-season to nightly if it wasn't just to benefit people like you that have the time to check Rotoworld every day?

Nightly waivers thruout preseason.

I had to put something in for post-draft waivers, thought nightly would be better. But for alpha its probably better in hindsight to have the same wednesday night used for reg season also for pre-season.

All you have to do then as commish is for preseason set it to always on waivers, so its fair, no free for alls And when the season starts revert back to free for all after wednesday which is the default alpha rule.

Remember i also initially said "no waiver claims until everyone joins". Wasnt making any claims myself. But then i changed it to waivers start sept 4, before this debate even. So that this year matches what we usually do.

But then the debate, and im just saying with FF we can now finalize the draft early and have waivers (once a week) no free for all (preseason only). No need to shut league down for a month

When we say Waivers clear on Wednesday night, will we still have Free Agent access right up until kickoff of the first game?
Think it was mentioned in a post earlier that I hate it in some leagues when you have a player come out of a game when the inactives are named but you don't get an opportunity to bring in a playing FA to cover... I like having a spare roster spot ready for moments like that.
Or are we talking about having Waivers clear on Wednesdays once a week and then nothing again until the following Wednesday... ie: no instant FA pickups?

Regular season will remain the same. Waivers process Wednesday night, and then all players are open for free for all, grabbing them for free rest of the week.

What I was arguing for was a post-draft preseason waivers. We couldnt do that on espn but can on FF. The only difference would be preseason waivers the players would always stay locked, only claimable in waivers, fair for all to have a chance at them.

Instructions for Co-commishes on FF....

On FF, unlike espn, you have these options.

post-draft waivers + free for all
post-draft waivers + always on waivers.
post-draft always free for all.

You can choose however many days a week thru preseason waivers process. Best options are either nightly, or, one day a week.

Eg, every wednesday waivers process, then all the free agents stay locked till the next wednesday.

That's at least better than disallowing August activity imo for the future.

But as a co-commish, how to manage all this on FF for the future....

if you want to keep disallowing post-draft waivers you have to keep changing the waiver day to a day just elapsed a week ahead and keep doing it till Sept 4 arrives.

Eg, today is Sunday, on Saturday you set waivers for Friday. On Thursday you change the day to Wednesday. Etc till you get to Sept 4. Then you make sure you change the waiver rule back to "waivers + free for all after, process wednesday only" which is the official setting for alpha.

At least you can do that which you cant on espn. At least you can get all the drafted players in, force IR players off IR, etc.

You also have to before next draft starts play around with settings to ensure people can draft. You go to roster settings, choose custom, increase each position by double (so you remember what to bring it back to), and increase roster size to say 45 (in case people have like 15 draft picks). Then you post a deadline for roster cuts in the commish notice board, say Sept 4.

On Sept 5, if people haven't gotten back under, you go to each persons roster, on the side it displays how many players at each position they have and total roster size....which espn doesnt do. So its easy to see who is still over and where. Then you go into Edit Rosters setting and cut the necessary players and/or move them to IR to get people all under.

Once everyone is under, go back to Roster Settings, choose custom, and bring all the positions back to half (eg, WR from 16 to 8) and roster total size back to 40. Then save. And the season is ready. You cant change these settings until you get everyone back under first.
Wtf is this? So this FF you say can do anything you are now relying on a manual fix? I ain’t going on FF mate

The reality is we shouldn’t be drafting in July, we only do because you get impatient. We should be drafting mid to late August

You can do many things on FF you cant on espn. The waivers thing is more flexible than espn. Plus all the best stuff like draft and future pick trading on site. If everyone goes back to espn because you had a tanty that the majority decided something you didnt like and threaten to quit, then you can run alpha on espn and see how you aggravate

IMO we draft at a good time for a slow draft.

If we were doing a live draft where a 2hr block was set so that everyone could make their picks at one time you'd have more of an argument

lol tanty, sure mate
"Im not going to FF mate"
"Ill be waiting on espn"

Tanty when everyone else is fine to go to FF.

You run it all on espn from now on if we go back, just very short-sighted of you given FF allows so much more flexibility and no more manual labor with spreadsheets etc. Its just a better site too for daily news grabs, etc.

So am I setting a lineup on FF or ESPN?
Good question.

I've set up the league on FF, 10/12 owners have said they're happy to go to FF given its a better site for the long haul. Majority rules, right? We've had majority decisions before and everyone had to follow along. Yet one person is refusing to go with a majority choice. I don't know if Lenny is refusing or just busy.

But as I said.... If Dspeeds refusal means everyone else is dragged back to Espn, then i am not running the league and doing all the manual chores anymore for espn. Dapeed can do it. He has commish abilities, so he can do it all.

He'll have to first finalize rosters, then try to find all those players people drafted who havent yet been and couldnt be added yet due to the restrictive system, i dunno who they are anymore as i deleted the alpha spreadsheet a week ago.

But theres some posts a few pages back where i list players who couldnt be added and ask people who they want cut to fit them in. He can try find that post, and write all that down.

Then, he has to first manually move everyones IR players to IR, then he'll have to manually cut the players that people asked to be cut, then he has to manually one by one add each player yet to be added to each person's roster. Then he'll have to manually enact the recent trade with NDG. Once thats all done properly then the league on espn can proceed. And first waivers should be open by then. He'll also have to check to make sure the waiver order from last year is correct for this year.

But he'll have to create his own spreadsheet now to keep track of that draft pick, and to run future drafts on. And every time someone makes a trade he'll have to keep track of it on his spreadsheet.

Or, lenny and dspeed can join FF where everythings already ready to go.

On FF btw, waivers are already to start next wednesday. Already made some cuts there and put in my waiver claims. Because i trusted the majority decision to go there.

But if we're all dragged back to espn due to dspeed its not really nice that everyone in the past has accepted majority decisions but dspeed is exempt.

Not sure what Lenny thinks. If hes just busy and hasnt had time to join, or if he doesnt want to go FF, majority is still 10/12.

But....if the rest of you who joined want to go back to ESPN, due to dspeeds tanty, thats up to you, I'll follow the majority, but im not looking after it anymore.
