Speaking as a father of three who loves his wife and kids more than any words can express, the birthing experience was not really that magical. In hindsight, if I had a final to play, would've skipped the births to play. What has been magical has been the subsequent milestones and achievements I've been so privileged to be a part of.

But each to their own I guess and it's his first. My wife would've divorced me if I hadn't been at our first but I'm sure she would've let me play a final for 2 and 3.
There's also the fact that no birth is guaranteed to be free of issues or complications. Even in this day and age.

New viewing zone for Grand Final parade - should we make it.

Can I ask what site you got that from Ticks? I'll be there for the parade so want to work out where I'll be best positioned and that map doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

At the nfl GF rematch at new stadium in LA

They go sick here
Have fun mate. and holy smokes $5 billion for a stadium...makes all the sooking about the new Sydney stadium pale into nothing.

You hope your there for the parade
Flights and accommodation all booked from Thursday, I'm set!
I've got a daughter currently couch surfing in Melbourne so thought a catch up was due and what better weekend.
Once the cheating mutts were eliminated I thought I'd enjoy the weekend anyway even if the worst happens with our boys

It took me a while to understand the new TV deal. How it is

Super Saturday for the first 8 rounds. Fox has exclusive rights to ALL games on Super Saturday. FTA can play but on delayed stream.

This is the continued degrade of AFL being accessible to everyone. Soon enough all games will be being payed TV
Gillon and the AFL chased the big rights payday, it's effectively a compulsory cross-subsidy to the mendicant clubs, and Tasmania. And it's also coercive pressure to push viewers us into Foxtel or Kayo - which are so popular they have to advertise constantly .

The AFL is playing with fire if it thinks the northern states club fans will be pushed en masse into pay tv or streaming.

I wonder how Gillon would feel if we put his bonus '..on holdback'

What the new AFL broadcast deal means for you, the clubs, and the game
By Jake Niall, Updated September 6, 2022

"..The key to this deal is that Foxtel - which provides more than 60 per cent of that $4.5 billion - has gained better exclusive content that should drive subscriptions. We have to look at the weeds of this deal to understand how the game has shifted, slightly but inexorably, in the direction of a viewer-pays culture and outcome, despite the protestations of the AFL..

..The AFL can continue to fund Greater Western Sydney and Gold Coast at well above the other clubs...The case for a Tasmanian team will likely strengthen following this deal..

..Further, the new deal - remember, only from 2025 onwards - gives the rusted-on fan of the Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Queensland teams - a far greater reason to subscribe to Foxtel, or more likely, its streaming arm Kayo.

..In the developing states of the north, the Swans, Lions, Suns and Giants will lose three live games on free to air each. And all three of those games will be in those first eight rounds of the season. The AFL media release - with a touch of deft leg spin - described this fine print thus: “Outside Victoria, the match involving the local team will be broadcast live into the local market on the Seven Network and 7+ digital except for selected matches on holdback (my emphasis)...”

Our second was quite traumatic and if I wasn't there I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself.

No judgement against anyone who makes a different decision, but I'd miss anything to be there.

Daniher should play. There's nought he can do for his wife that her mum can't be a perfectly fine replacement for.
Bring back the days where the dad goes down the pub and hands out cigars, then gets a call when it's' all done I say.

Let's hope the Dees and Cats absolutely batter each other in the Prelim. Cameron going down with a 3 week injury would be an ideal result. And well deserved with all the dog acts he's dished out over the years.

Though dees are overwhelming favourites, going to see how tonight plays out first

missed the birth of my second as they didn't call me until after- I had gone home and she was being induced to have the baby the next day

but she came in like 15 minutes

sorry I digress

i've had both experiences- individual thing

If i played for brisbane i'd miss the final , but I am a swans fans after all

Or time your conception better and make sure your kids are born in the off season like I did.

I agree. I work in obstetrics and the only reason women want their husbands present is so they have someone to abuse during contractions 😂😂

Worst 24 hours of my life - probably because there was little I could do to help - but that all changed once my daughter was born. Poor planning by Jo at the conception stage I would say, but not much he can do about that now.
