Surely he gets a run in the ones. That was phenomenal, and the peak in a series of much improved games. He deserves a chance.

If not, he has to accept an offer from another club, because there will be offers.

Edit take out his performance from yesterday's game, and it's an ordinary win.

He also got the tackles, which isn't particularly high but he was probably to busy holding the ball.

I funny know who goes out, but I know we have trouble with big midfields that bully us. Mathis is a big powerful unit that can match that, and clearly know his way around the field. Maybe he only comes in for Carlton (I really their midfield).

Can we afford to not try to out someone who is so clearly above in the twos?

I'm all for him going to another club. He deserves to play.

Easy to say who should go in, but who would come out for Matho if noone is injured?

Matho has played 62 AFL games.
What is considered a try out these days?

Is your love for a player directly proportional to how bad their disposal is?

Thank god we have him contracted for 2023. There were so many questions about why we extended him.

If our midfield depth is someone who is sitting on 46 disposal games in 2s, we're doing pretty well while staying in premiership contention.

Probably tracking for the reserves BnF as well and we all know that is a doomed fate.
So yeah, lucky he is contracted.
 
Matho is a credit to himself the way he hasn't sooked and moaned about his fate and gone out there and given it 100% in the 2's every week.

I think I've seen enough of him to know he's not best 22 in our side presently unless we get injuries.

And even then I'd have a couple ahead of him.

But I am prepared to accept he might have improved. At least you know he won't die wondering if he gets a chance.

He's happy to stay, we're happy to have him - I hope we're not pushing every single depth option out the door because they'll do better elsewhere. Before we know it, all of us will be lamenting about lack of depth while in a premiership window.

I see Matho as similar to Lester, no frills, can do a job when they are needed and more importantly, they know their place in the pecking order within our club. We should be grateful he's willing to be that leader in 2s than chase another club.

It's not about pushing him out the door, it's about if he was my kid I'd be worried he'd have regrets.. And I'd want him to enjoy what he has worked all his life for - which is to play AFL.

I'd probably also want to soak in the glory of producing such a talented, loyal nice guy. It's all about the parents.

If he is the VFL best and fairest, he will have clubs knocking on his door, irrespective of what we fans think it day on an irrelevant bigfooty thread.

All those other clubs will have seen him turn the ball over as much as we have.
 
Just spent half an hour going in circles trying to find out how to attend the game versus Frankston tomorrow night. Dead set - why is it so hard?? Most sports globally have a flourishing 2nd tier comp, the AFL barely acknowledges it even has one! The Lions website doesn't help, the AFL website doesn't help, there is no VFL website - seriously? Do i need a ticket or can I get in on my membership? Do I need to buy a ticket online or at the gate? Do they even want people to go? GRRR...

around the footy club you'll be fine, just don't go in to the heart of frankston near the shopping centre ;)
 
Thanks for the help! I've finally booked a ticket. The booking site requires a password for Brisbane FC members to get a cheaper ticket. The Club had zero idea about any of it. I was able to speak to Frankston who told me the password is simply 'brisbanefc' (all lower case, all one word). Now just need to show my card at the gate. Sheesh!
