Hawks have done so for 40 years, long before anyone was counting membership numbers.
Did you know every kid playing in the YJFL (biggest in Australia) gets a Collingwood membership? Good on them.

If people don’t care about the numbers why do they read this thread?

For the comments of people thinking the membership numbers are legit.

How does the membership number indicate growth though? You can swap 50% of your 11 game memberships for double the amount of 1-3 game memberships and you have less attendance, less money but more members going off AFL rules.

Case in point, Freo look like poor performers over the past 5 years but get 30-35K to home games & this has grown to 40-45K this year with barely any local opposition fans. Similar size membership base like Bulldogs & Saints would be lucky to get 25K to a home interstate game. The mighty 100K membership Tigers could only get 25K themselves to a Marvel game a few weeks ago.

It's a complete red herring at the moment and shouldn't be the main measurement of off field popularity.

Membership earnings would be an interesting one.

It’s looking increasingly likely that Club membership bases will soon morph into a view of the relative size of clubs mailing lists. This year we’ve seen memberships sold as GA tickets for games. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to understand the components of membership, noting revenue will be interesting as yields will clearly fall per member. Annual Repirts will be interesting.

Big Footy should use the swear filter feature for this. Members & memberships gets turned into Mailers and Mailing list, it’s been a slippery slope over the years but has turned into a farce now.

They already get better crowds than Richmond so they probably don’t feel the need to include a few newspaper memberships to bump it up to 100k.

Nah they are just fickle and don’t wanna pony up the dough. All this shows to me is that Richmond prefer to watch games at home, which I do unless it’s a final. Much better viewing.

Great result. I believe the Hawks and Bombers numbers this year have benefited from inclusion of their AFLW memberships.

l wouldn't mind there being set criterias in regards to valid memberships that are counted and can only be approved by the Afl to eliminate the shonky clubs offering cheap memberships as the cut off date gets closer...Memberships should have a minimum amount of games and also a minimum price set by the Afl. Anything outside of this criteria while it can be counted wont be added to the membership totals of the clubs..This would eliminate a lot of the "so called members" memberships..

It’s crazy Roos have record membership yet are apparently so uncompetitive unwatchable that they want the Gold Coast concession packages.
