Rich has had an arguably better career post ACL so the odds are probably in Cams favor!
and a cracking first game back from memory v collingwood, blockbuster round 1 we were awful then make a (too) late comeback aided by some rich long bombs

just one of those things for some players it seems to open up a weakness. they are so much better these days at fixing them though. Hippy just throws himself into packs it will certainly be nervous times in our household haha

Training report, Yeronga >

1- The rain held off briztoon , the boys started with a 15 minute meeting indoors, no ears in there sorry.
2- Counted 40 players there including Will Ashcroft/Jaspa Fletcher, only 3 not training mostly and solidly with the full squad were Hippy(heaps of steady laps and some sprint work, looked good though), Blake(didn't do much at all apart for some skills work), Henry Smith(A shit load of endurance work but looked to be holding up well).
3- That makes 38 of the 44 man squad there, Madden and Uosis appeared not to be there along with Darcy Fort, then obviously Lohmann/Wilmot weren't there so for the life of me I couldn't figure out who was the 1 player missing.
4- Cockatoo looking trim and fit.
5- Cam moving feely, took part in all the training.
6- Lots of skills work eg. quick hands with 2 in the middle harassing, quick play on from marks.
7- The energy was good but didn't seem quite as upbeat as other pre season sessions I have been to, guys not as vocal.
8- 30 minute endurance session to end, around a dozen 150 meter sprints with minimal rest and a few 400 meter efforts, the usual suspects up the front ie. Sharp, J.Berry, Clugga.... Bailey keeping up really well along with T.Berry, Fullarton and Lachie who looks primed. Matho not with them but definitely improved.
9- Will Ashcroft has a solid build for a 17 year old, Jaspa is as skinny as a rake. Will looks good but didn't look as smooth on the ball as Charlie/Clugga/Keidean, Jaspa I thought looked like an excellent fluid natural kick.

Happy to take any questions, something might pop into my head if asked.

Oh and by the way, Hodgey has certainly been in a good paddock + Fages doing plenty of endurance work as well.

Must love the Brisbane lifestyle like Hodge...... SEQ one of the best places on the planet to raise a family:hearts:.

There's something special about joining a group and contributing to it's improvement. Not surprised at all that some of the older players traded in to help development become attached and want continue contributing after their playing days end.

HUGH McCluggage is already one of the best, and most consistent, players in the AFL, and the Brisbane wingman is set to make another leap following a standout showing at the Lions' official return to training on Monday.”

He already has been one of our top players out on the ground Hugh but if he could take that next step it will really elevate us. I kind of feel that the majority of the load is put on Neale, Lyons and Zorko (a bit of a break glass in case). If Hugh can move more into the middle and add to that group it would really assist in taking us that next step.

I feel when he’s been given big minutes to play midfield rather than wing he has shown the ability to be the best player on the ground. Hopefully with improvement to our younger outside players it can allow him to play as a genuine mid alongside guys like Neale and Lyons.

Gonna be holding my breath every time i will see Cam get the ball and try and twist or turn. Fingers crossed he can just get through and build the confidence this year. No massive expectations this year in my eyes for Cam.
I'm no medical person at all, so I'm asking this question with no preconception either way. When you do an ACL and you get all the surgery and the rehab etc etc, does this make you more/less/equally likely to do it again in the future? I think about David Schwarz back in the 90's going down like 3 times in quick succession, but I think with the benefit of hindsight people now say he came back too soon each time?

I recall hearing that when blokes start doing hammies they become more likely to do them in future. On the other hand I broke my femur (thigh bone) clean in half about 10 years ago, so they opened me up, put a massive titanium rod right down the bone and now it's literally unbreakable!

Anyone got any insight either way on this?

This is awesome. Cheers. Keen to know when they start branching out into full ground drills... see if we can glean any changes to overall game plan for 2022.

How did Jaspa look height wise? If he could grow into a height and build similar to Tunstill/Hughie that could be pretty dangerous.

Looks pretty similar to how Harry Sharp looked last year. Maybe a bit smaller.
Looks a likely type though, nice skills and seems to move well.
