Crypto is a bubble. I won't deny blockchain has its uses, but the cryptocurrencies are all speculative investments that only have value if others think it has value. The minute that stops being the case, it's worthless.

But I digress. Keen for more training updates soon.

Will be the way people transact in the future and most Government issued fiat will eventually be transitioned to their own stable coins. Yes, most shitcoins will go to zero, but there are several platforms that have or will emerge that play a key role in finance, gaming, social media, crowdfunding, supply chain resilience etc. NFTs are revolutionising art today and music in the future by giving more control and revenue back to content creators.

Set timelines with an ACL need to be taken with a bit of a grain of salt. It's all about ticking off milestones (i.e. triple hop scores / single leg press weights etc.) I no longer work in MSK so can't say one way or another what substantial changes have been made in the field. I know we use the Melbourne ACL protocol here which includes scoring a certain score on their return to sport criteria to qualify. I'm sure they will be careful with Hipwood but if he's cleared in 9-10 months they may let him loose.

In terms of being more susceptible - yeah probably. The graft is stronger than your natural ligament but the number of re-ruptures indicate there is a higher risk.

Biomechanics etc wouldn't come into very much at all with Rayner. That was just a bloody freak accident / awkward landing that could happen to anyone.

Would have thought it would be the complete opposite. That Rayner would be more susceptible because it was just a change in direction which peoole do all the time, however it was his "biomechanics" which made him susceptible to the rupture. Whereas Hippy wasn't going to do a ACL rupture but the contact made it rupture so had nothign to do with his body, just unlucky

I was talking about the article posted.

I know you’re Eric’s Dad/Uncle/Brother and would know more about the situation but the article linked isn’t just a buzzfeed article.

If Eric’s individual situation is different that’s great but standard practice is nine months. You can’t get cranky at people who aren’t as close to the situation as you are for restating that.

I wish Eric Hipwood was my Dad but he just isn’t. We don’t all know as much as you do.

Yeah. I'm not a Dr, but I'm one subject off completing my masters in exercise physiology. Did use Google, but did know exactly what I was looking for.

You are off with my association with Hippy but that is OK. and I never called the article buzzfeed....your words.

I don't know specifics about his rehab but what i have been told is that he's ahead of his schedule and has been ticking all boxes as each step of his rehab gets put in front of him. The point I was making is that nobody (including myself and anyone here) knows when he will become available to play again better than the medico's at the club who are doing a great job with all the lads carrying injuries. I also understand that there is a standard recovery period set for ACL's but there is also differing time frames for individuals completing that recovery period...be it a little longer or a little shorter than standard. That said, i trust their judgement and their call on when he comes back in to play.
I am not cranky either...sorry if I came across as that. Entertained by Dr Google used by many people these days who quickly make assessments of things based on what they read on the net. Some information is legitimate & accurate but I believe there is more in-accurate stuff posted on the net than should be with absolutely no accountability.
Lastly...i do think many people on this board know a LOT more than I do about things footy related and Lions related. I enjoy reading people's thoughts and opinions and (like us all) I sometimes agree/dis agree on.

Everyone is arguing the same thing in a round about way. When you do an acl the tendon they use is usually stronger than the original acl. The weak point tends to be where the graft is anchored onto. Those points require time to adequately vascularise and strengthen. Usually this takes several months to happen and the more time given the better in general. In general it would take roughly 10 to 12 months. However, I am sure a sports star with the best rehab team could reach milestones earlier and return earlier. The hard part is weighing up the incremental and reducing returns of waiting longer vs the loss of conditioning and playing ability with a longer time out of the game. Not to mention the loss of income and opportunity for a player in a small playing career window. Hipwood is already a high risk acl case just by being tall gangly young athlete. The chances his acl recurs is higher than average in general. It will be difficult for any medical professional advising Hipwood. If Hipwood ever does his acl again they will question whether he returned too soon. I can already see the media articles being churned out to bash the doctors. Even though there is no way of ever knowing that Hipwood wouldn't have ruptured if he did x y or z instead. I prima facie respect the opinion of a medico willing to approve a player returning earlier. They must be confident enough in their knowledge to risk their reputation when it is so easy to be conservative and wrap Hipwood up for a full year.

Keep it down you Hippy!!!

;)

I don't see why there's any rush to get Hipwood back. That spells opportunity and experience for someone else that will benefit the team over the season.

It's a significant injury and I'm sure we won't name him in the Seniors until he's good and ready.

As for the medical prognosis for his particular injury who knows but we're not playing finals in the first half of the season. There's plenty of time to get his full fitness back even if that means a game or two in the reserves.

QClash - Round 6
Metricon, Sunday avo time slot 😕
Really hate that place!

Forfeit the match, rather than than another long term injury

The shines directly into people's eyes on one side of the ground at that time as well.
