I think the only thing I'm still torn about is whether to take Weller in as a potentially good POD, or to drop him to a Ralphsmith/McGovern and upgrade Hewett or Dixon. Wouldn't mind Preuss generating some cash on the bench, like I'm hoping Stephens will do.

Fwiw, Weller score vs Catters has to be viewed against the backdrop of the Cats only kicking 6 behinds.
That's on the absolute low side, can't see it happening too often. And he's got a pretty fair hold on the kick-ins

Just scrolling thru, so someone might already have said, but:
Pedlar, Smith, Hollands all not in / unlikely.
Curnow hasn't been in many, not sure if he's available Rd 1
H Dixon might get murky now Darling got the jab (but St K Hayes another option if so)
Parker and Mead also prob no.
But all tweakable

Well here’s my second draft of my team, a lot better than the one I first posted a few weeks back. I feel it’s pretty solid, although I still think maybe a couple more changes are needed dependent of which rookies play among other things.

Here are my thoughts on what could be changed, would love to get your opinions on it and my team overall

Would one more premium mid be worth it? I know Bont, Macrae and Neale are stars and Rowell will be great if he fires back to his early season form, but I can’t help but feel I need a Touk or an Oliver there as well. I could potentially shuffle Brodie forward and move Dixon to the bench to make that spot.

Speaking of Dixon, he and Naish might be pretty handy picks considering the Eagles injury crisis and they’ll hopefully get a fair bit of game time.

My backline is the one I’ve been focusing on. My Crisp, Stewart and Lloyd combo I feel will be worth the investment becuase they all guarantee pretty decent points, especially with their kick ins from Lloyd and Stewart. My second defensive line I’m still unsure about.

Bench I feel is good, because I’ve deliberately put in rookies that are most likely to get some decent game time throughout the season.

I like this side. Think you’re spending too much on rookies though. No Martin is gobsmacking.

I’d swap Bonner to McCartin, JHF to MacDonald, Rachele to Martin and then Berry to Parish.

Hawkins is a bold pick that could pay off, not having Dunkley could hurt though.

what is your reasons behind the Bonner pick ? cant see him as a top 6 defender and not going to make much cash either

This is a good call. Hasn’t even noticed Hawkins over Dunk. I think I’ve been so accustomed to seeing Dunk at F1 in every team I’ve seen that I don’t even consciously look anymore. Need Dunks. Must have.

I’ve decided to add Dunk in instead of Hawkins and have added Mccartin. Put Dusty in the forward line and removed Thomas.

Other changes I’ve done.

Potentially may swap Bont for Miller, but I reckon Bont could be the better starting player and Touk could be a better upgrade down the line, I’m not too sure. And as for the defence considering swapping Stewart for Short, but that’s yet to be decided as well.

MacDonald is on my bench now.

Now have one spare midfield spot left with a bit of spare cash after doing some rearrangement.

Oh. Yep, sorry. I meant Nick Martin from the Bombers. Hard to see him not being selected and will probably be the best forward rookie, but really, until teams drop who knows.

Wouldn’t take any advice in here as gospel, just things to think about.

The key should always be to start with as many keepers as you possibly can. Pick players who you think will be there at seasons end. Otherwise, you’ll have to burn trades on them. Less upgrades, more chance you do well.
