A really interesting article. Old yes. But everything still applies.
It is about doing your team backwards.
Put the rookies in you want to field first.
Grab the captain options you need.
Make the rest of you premo choices around the rookies rather than the other way.
This method works well in years we have a glut of rookies on one line and not much elsewhere.

Think there's a really good chance both Baldwin and Martin play round 1. If Martin plays he's an absolute lock for his price - genuine ball winner. Baldwin i'd be iffy on if he plays.

What's bombers forward line look like.

Jones..2MP...Ham..
Snell..Devon Perkins.....?

Baldwin did better than Jones .. IMO

All of those are contending + Francis, Baldwin and Guelfi. Locks are 2MP, Smith, Perkins and Snelling - rest are debatable but based off last year Jones should be a lock if he's fit. Francis & Baldwin fighting for a spot if we want to play a 3rd tall

Stringer - Jones - Snelling
Smith - Wright - Baldwin/Francis
Perkins

Is what I’d say.

Martin is probably competing with Cox for a wing spot but I also wouldn’t be overly surprised if he took Dev’s spot.

Bit worried about Martin's JS with Stringer and Tippa coming back in... Going to be a big ask for him to push Lunchmeat or Cox out of the team?

Dev been poor since he's first season there.
He's not a mid.
Too slow for small forward.
Baby bombers going past him...

After Dev’s BnF year he hasn’t been the same player. Cooked his knee and lost most of his pace. A lot of Bombers fans have been calling for him to dropped for quite some time, but realistically we need him in the lineup with a lack of small forward options. Whenever Tippa comes good I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Dev who comes out.

Cox isn’t in great form right now and is the one he’s probably in direct competition with. Most Bombers fans are taking Martin for round 1 as it stands.

Surely Xerri should be a probable Fwd. Bit exxy but a P.O.D. to Brodie/Rachele. Vise like hands marking, and mobile. JS depends on CCJ's return.

Any idea what price Joyce or Naish will be if listed? Both have played AFL previously but were delisted and not picked up in draft/ rookie draft. Presumably minimum contracts. Naish in particular would be good if priced appropriately but Joyce and Hough would be okay on the bench if named R1.

Luke Parks 6 games 36 average in 2021 is 199k.

Patrick Naish 6 games 34.5 average in 2021 would be 195k based on that? Just a fraction less.

There won't be any discounts for being a SPP or anything.

If delisted you should get a discount imo.

Xerri is in my team currently.

Be very careful picking players on the expectation they will play.

If he doesn't debut until round 5-6 you've lost a good downgrade option.

He could also get injured and never play.
Young padawan .....whilst you are maybe guessing on Rookies ..... I'm using scientific resources .....no guesswork here

Mid Rookies seem good but Defense is giving me headaches. So little cheap defenders. Then There's players gibcus, sinn and NWM who probably avg 40 to 50 at best and probably not worth the cash generation. The most promising 70+ players are mature players Hinge and McCartin who are injury prone players.

fu** me. Bench rookies are way to expensive compared to previous years.
Yep. I am hopeful that we can fill out benches mostly with cheapies though

D7 McCartin/Sinn
D8 SDK
(lose the DEF/FWD swing, but you can remake it down the track)

M9 DStephens
M10 CStephens/other
M11 MacDonald

R3 SHayes

F7 JHayes/Dixon
F8 Baldwin/Martin

It's worse than previous years, but not the worst thing. Only 2/8 pricey bench rooks would be lovely considering it was looking very bleak a week ago

Hayes and Dixon are a chance up forward.
both 102k.
I have gone with SDK + a loop in defence.
Mids are hard.
Maginness and Macdonald the only real options.
They may not even play.

McEntee seemed a bit of all right.
Yep we will get 3 cheap ones I reckon.
It is not as bad as everyone is making out.
What will change this year, with everyone taking bulk expensive rookies, upgrade season is going to come early.
Potentially teams will be complete earlier also.
Very interesting.
