Phew - I was banking on both
JS good on both?
Hayes has good job security

Don't think they will let Ryder out of the retirement home any time soon

So, Soligo + McDonald + Hough + Owens as mid rookie options. I'm only picking three (Dylan Stephens is my M8 and I think he's well and truly worth the extra 45k above those names). Who misses out?

Pity Hough isn't available as a defender considering that's probably where he'll be playing anyway.

I'm taking MacD and Owens - if we don't get McEntee I'll probably take Hough in front of Soligo but its a coin flip.

Could I ask why you are confident with Dyl Stephens? Predraft I saw his highlights and wanted the hawks to draft him but he seems to have gone backwards since then. What do you see that I dont? Cheers

MacD is a given
But, what is the JS of the other three? Owens, Hough and Soligo?

Each of them are there due to injured senior players - St K have a number of medium term wing types unavailable due to injury or mental health, WC woes well known, Adelaide have Dawson, Milera and Hinge, although all likely to play, all vulnerable, apart from Seedsman's ongoing concussion battles, Tom Lynch retiring and Pedlar having a hammy issue. Soligo has played senior footy in the SANFL.

So, the answer to your question is a pineapple. JS comes down to performance with the given opportunity. 1 or 2 might stick, none might. They do all have solid grounding in the roles they are playing though, so none of them are spare parts.

Why are people taking Owens over Soligo?

Soligo - Bottom 4 side. Laird in 3-5 weeks
Owens - Expect to play finals. Billings in 2-3 weeks and Clark in 3-5 weeks (plus Zak Jones TBA)

both Billings and Clarke out for saints - with west coasts issues Hough should be good for a little while

Soligo is bit of unknown - Laird out for 4weeks probably helps

They are hoping for a round 3 Zak jones return.
Well that deters me from Owens even more.

Soligo > Owens for me

MacDonald and Hough locked in

I know nothing about Soligo & Owens; so I’m just going to join you :straining:

I'm only taking two of MacDonald, Soligo, Owens, Hough - and I think MacDonald and Hough have the greatest JS.
Owens could maybe come in for Hough, but I could just see Owens being the sub after his brief stint in the team - Hough sounds like he is a Back 6/7 lock in Simpsons team, at least for the time being.
