Can anyone tell me how much of Voss's coaching style and game plan is influenced by Hinkley?

Bit each way I would say. The gameplan isn't groundbreaking, many sides play with a similar style, with some variables

It's more about a gameplan/tactics that can be sustained, force opposition turnovers and to nullify the strengths of your opponent

Whilst I pretty much agree with most of your post, let's assume everyone is fit and firing. Motlop for Owies, Walsh for LoB, and maybe Stocker for Newman (although I wouldn't take that as a given).... There are still a few others... I can see at the end of this year 1 or 2 players will ask for a trade, and we will be sad to see them go....

I don't reckon we'll see anyone request a trade except perhaps Dow (if he can't sort himself out then a fresh start is probably best) or LOB (if he ends up falling out of the side in favour of one of the other kids).

These are players who have hurt through half a decade of underwhelming performance. The early rebuild results can be forgiven, we were OK with losing for a few years while we stacked the list through the draft. But we should have been playing finals the last couple of seasons, no doubt about it.

Players don't often jump ship just as their team is starting to reap the rewards.

Great performance last night.

One observation from last night was I was really surprised how windy it was in the ground, especially as it didn't seem that windy watching the 2s. The flags on the top of the scoreboard were pointing to the Punt Rd end but at ground level it was strong towards the city. Both sides butchered the ball kicking to the Punt Rd end and struggled to break line because the kicks weren't getting out the back. Even when we got 4 goals down I thought we were still in it and we would run over the top of them.

According to Swampy on twitter, it was the most lop sided score end at the G since 1965

Best thing for LOB is to be unaware and take a huge hit and realise he's going to be able to get back up. Some little things last night, like running the ball over the boundary as first thought instead of thinking.. hmm I have a window of opportunity to take this on, but I could get crunched. Hopefully his last quarter coathanger and goal will help him in this regard.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, pretty sure taking the ball over the boundary was the right play. We were dominant at stoppages and getting killed on the turnover, so in a scenario where taking the opponent on represents a significant risk of a turnover, and playing for the boundary always results in a throw-in...the latter is good football.

LOB was very good against the Dees, he was a bit underwhelming against the Tigers - but he is still a player finding his way, so unless there is someone in the ressies who is absolutely carving it up on the wing specifically, then I think we persist.

These lighter outside runners don't tend to lift a team, but they do have a funny habit of rising with a team that lifts. When we're absolutely motoring, and if he feels assured of his role within the side, a lot of the indecision and execution issues will be left behind. The comp's premier winger (Ed Langdon) was much the same.

The wind is a part of the game that seems to be largely ignored in recent times. I remember at Princes Park how that could totally change a match and the manner the team needed to play. We would clap the lads for playing an ultra defensve quarter against it and keeping our opponent down to a just a few goals knowing we could come home with a full sail.

I see the Blues v Tigers Banter thread over on their side has been shut down. :laughv1: :laughv1: :laughv1:

Pity......I had some very constructive input I would have liked to have shared with them. :p

Maybe we should start one?

That is a NO.

That will teach you for for heading over to their Board and misbehaving.

Enjoy your day off. :p
