Holy Shit.. imagine if we had Liam Jones instead of Oscar in that back 6. Oscar was good but Liam Jones is elite.

Adam Saad had 17 kicks last night out of the backlines at 100 percent efficiency

One thing I do respect about LOB is he'll keep going, obviously had a mare in the first qtr but continued battling and did a few nice things late on. Just needs to refine the consistency in his game.

He's got some flaws in his game, but we're going to be a better team come September if he's playing well. He'll iron out the flaws playing 1s, not 2s.

somewhat not true. Jones was good but he often got caught out when he ran off his man to defend up the ground. Got caught on the overlap. Jones also wasn't a good kick, Oscar is a better kick and probably better at kicking those quick kicks out of the backline

Love love love Cerra. He's that rare type of balanced mid that everyone needs. Inside/outside, quick hands, clean, kicks both feet.
Can not wait to see him and Walsh in the same team. Epic 10 year combination incoming.

And I love Durdin, he is a player. I love them all but he's a new fav.

Lots to work on, loads to work with. Bloody special night at the G, you could feel it in the air.
Agreed. In the past we've had midfielders who are explosive but no endurance, tough but no skills, skilled but soft etc. We tried to organise them to play to their strengths, and when the stars aligned we could play some good footy in patches. But in every game, at some point the bloke with no skills needs to hit a crucial target, the soft bloke needs to stick a tackle and the bloke with no endurance needs to put in second and third efforts, and in those patches we concede goals which eventually costs us the game.

Having well rounded players just means you're less vulnerable to circumstances conspiring against you and results in greater consistency of outcomes. I love that Cerra, Hewitt and Kennedy are all tough, dual sided players. You don't need to be as quick if you can break tackles and turn in any direction to dispose of the ball. Having these blokes in the engine room to complement Cripps and Walsh really sets us up for sustainable success.

LOB, for mine, looked like a player running around shitting himself. Not in the way that most of his detractors here think, ie. that he's soft. But rather that he's too scared of making mistakes ... and so he makes them (have a look when he's going back for that goal, you could just see his mind going "god I hope don't ****ing miss this ...". I reckon it's all in his head, because he's definitely not soft, and when it starts to click for him, he'll be away.

So I 100% agree that the best place for him to develop will be the 1's. But on last night's performance, if the plan is to play/rotate Walsh on a wing when he's back, then you'd keep Setters over LOB. I guess he's got a couple of weeks to turn that around.

I’m a fan of Lob i genuinely think it will happen for him

Richmond really targeted Cerra, crunched him at every opportunity, LOVED he just got back up everytime and kept going

Amusing that the rank spray off the side of the boot that happened to land in Cripps' lap goes towards that 100%.

Adam Saad gets a lot of heat for not being defensive enough.

But he is an absolute beast one-one-one. Especially in the air.

Wins a lot of contests he has no right to.

Combination of desperation, clever body positioning (often tapping the ball to his advantage) and core strength.

Me likey. Me likey a lot!
I watched a replay of the game after watching it live at the local and for mine Saad was the best player on the ground last night. I didn’t see him out a foot wrong all night and his balance between defence and attack was almost perfect.

Best thing for LOB is to be unaware and take a huge hit and realise he's going to be able to get back up. Some little things last night, like running the ball over the boundary as first thought instead of thinking.. hmm I have a window of opportunity to take this on, but I could get crunched. Hopefully his last quarter coathanger and goal will help him in this regard.

Was nice having literally 0 hack exits from stoppages. No under 9s stoppage setup grab ball up and unders. fu** that's just. All coaching. Well done Vossy and team
Listen to Pitto's interview on SEN Captain's Run this morning. He actually referenced the improvement of our current system/style compare to just "hacking it out" like we did before...

In Round 1
Was that the qualifier? So one of those meaningless stats that deliberately excludes certain players?
Had they said nobody has beaten Richmond, it would have allowed Cerra and Hewett to be included and probably a few others that have beaten Richmond in later rounds. Had they said nobody has won in round 1, that would've allowed others to be included. So let's narrow the criteria to be Richmond AND round 1, then we can make Carlton look shit.
