How about forget the past and look to the future.
Leave out the Teague/ Bolton/ Malthouse/ past players bashing. It is not what we need.
Everything happens as a reaction to what goes before and every decision is a risk.
They all looked good at the time they were appointed/recruited but it didnt work out.
End of story.

We got lucky this time it seems.
it's so much fun though.

Jsos is an integral part of our team. He is a part of our very fabric. He is a must have. (Imho)
I think Voss knows how important SOS is to the team. Will never be a star but is more than serviceable and keeps everyone honest with his work rate. Voss can always point at him and say we need more intensity like JSOS!

Serious question..how many times is too many times to watch a replay of a last quarter of football?

....asking for a friend

I watched a replay of the game after watching it live at the local and for mine Saad was the best player on the ground last night. I didn’t see him out a foot wrong all night and his balance between defence and attack was almost perfect.
He was great, but I feel that he hung onto the ball a little bit too long a couple times, putting himself under extra pressure and almost getting caught.
He also took a few bounces when he didn't need to and it looked like it put him off balance and stuffed his timing a touch, as well as almost losing it once or twice.

That's being a little nit picky though, because he absolutely stood up in the fourth when the game was on the line.

I can see Kennedy and his contract becoming an issue in the future given he's starting to earn himself one worth a lot more than he'd be on now.

The salary squeeze could become real sooner rather than later.

Nice problem to have....but with Jones gone, arguably Ed C's last year, Brackets due for a revision....should be ok.

I was going to ask the same thing and surely Kemp comes in for LOB and Motlop for Owies as I heard Jesse hit the scoreboard.
Kemp was relatively quite, though he did channel his inner Setanta with an awkward spin, nearly falling over to kick a great goal from 35m.

Motlop was great in the first half but like most of the team ran out of legs. Could have been due to rotations with Curnow and Philp not playing (much?) in the second half

He needs to play with that aggression and dare because that's the best way to utilise his weapons and I prefer him playing with this added flare than to take the conservative route

Hehe.
I was thinking of the scene where they find the old bloke in his chair at home almost dead from too much virtual “how’s your father”

I did try and find a gif for that!! 🤣

Just from a pure footy perspective, Shai Bolton does some magical stuff on a footy field. His ability to compete in aerial contests against bigger opponents and get the ball to his advantage is amazing. Thought he was gonna tear us up for a bit but thankfully didn't too much. Great to watch live though.
Same here. Thought he was going to take the game away from us. He’s just about unstoppable. Rare talent.

Listen to Pitto's interview on SEN Captain's Run this morning. He actually referenced the improvement of our current system/style compare to just "hacking it out" like we did before...
You can see it. It's bloody obvious, even to my untrained eyes.
There's hardly any blind turn hack kicks from stoppages that you hope land on someone's head (usually not). It's more about a few quick handballs to players in better positions, or with more momentum to clear the contest.
The hack kick might give you an almost guaranteed inside 50, but is more likely to come back the other way, where our mids then forgot to defend the rebound.
The handball chain gives a player more time and space to assess the forward options (helps when you're facing forward instead of hacking around the body with your back to the forwards).
Once the forwards realise that they can actually lead to someone who will be looking at them and delivering lace out, instead of just running to space and hoping the ball comes in your direction, that connection between mids/fwds will be complete.

LOB, for mine, looked like a player running around shitting himself. Not in the way that most of his detractors here think, ie. that he's soft. But rather that he's too scared of making mistakes ... and so he makes them (have a look when he's going back for that goal, you could just see his mind going "god I hope don't ******* miss this ...". I reckon it's all in his head, because he's definitely not soft, and when it starts to click for him, he'll be away.

So I 100% agree that the best place for him to develop will be the 1's. But on last night's performance, if the plan is to play/rotate Walsh on a wing when he's back, then you'd keep Setters over LOB. I guess he's got a couple of weeks to turn that around.
While he was poor, LOB's team mates didn't do him any favours last night every pass to him was wide or at his feet.

So there's your normal pot shot at Fisher out of the way. To be fair wasn't great but contributed.

Awaiting to see how you will structure up your "Matthew Kennedy isn't up to it" post. Might need to take some creative licence there.

Probably will no longer see your "I'm really bullish on SPS/Dow etc" post.

Never change Jimmae and never admit that you were wrong.
Never read my posts properly, and summarise them poorly.

I don't care if he's carrying an injury, it's form or it's just his ceiling: he was trusted by his team mates with the footy and he was our worst player both with and without it.

If it can't be rectified over the week, he should be dropped, because we've got the depth to do so.

I've made my points on Kennedy, and both he and the execution of a game style that suits him has lifted, though perhaps Fisher is a player who pays the price of such changes.

Kennedy - He's really turned it around. I'm amazed how much quicker he is looking. He's really breaking away and applying heat. Really liked his game although sets shots are usually his bread and butter. Turned into a really good player for us.

"Looking quicker" is correct, I think.

And the reason is that for the first time in years our mids are taking off before the ball is in their hands. We've suffered through a stupidly long period where our midfield gameplan seemed to be "everyone look at Cripps, and he'll handball it to one of you". Now we're trusting one player to win the ball, holding our width while the ball is contested, and once we win possession we have 2-3 blokes break off in different directions to provide outlets by hand.

It's one of the reasons Clayton Oliver is looking quicker these days despite being pretty much middle of the pack for actual pace. He commits and goes and trusts that a teammate will put the ball in front of him.
