Delighted for Vossy. He made his mistakes at Brisbane (though I'd say trying to go all in and win with the last few years of Brown, Black and Power is very understandable) but I don't think he was a bad coach. He had to deal with horrendous drafting in the years post premierships and a list lacking in quality once the stars aged. Probably was too soon for him to be a senior coach too.

I think he'll be very good for you guys given what you have in your spine and his apprenticeship and its great to see someone get a second chance.

Voss was a champion full stop. Ten years in the system coaching. Voss like handballs last night. Players know what their coach is. An elite Mongral who rose to the top . Bring on Footscray.

Voss was a freak. Pre leg break in 98 he was incredibly athletic and dynamic (a very similar player to walsh actually) and then after that he turned into the ultimate warrior/enforcer on the field whilst losing none of his class.

Beyond anything else he was as hard as nails and you could see that trait in the application from your boys last night.

Thanks for those words Tom . The whole league has witnessed it. Good start for us as we needed that . All the best to your team .

Watching that clip made me realise what make our game the most exciting in the world. There's just no other game where the crowd gets to scream and get progressively louder as their team builds that momentum.

In soccer, there just aren't enough goals. In basketball, there are too many goals (and especially just goals scored "turn about" by teams). In rugby, the ball just rarely moves fast enough, so after a score, things settle back down again. In grid iron, the crowd noise is much more about disrupting the ability of the visiting team from calling plays. And even when it is about the home team scoring, things again go back to being quite sedate for long periods.

But in AFL, when a team gets a run on, and scores a lot in a hurry, the crowd noise crescendo is simply amazing ... and when a game is tight, and it's goal for goal, it's still amazing, as each team's fans try to spur their teams on.

I know AFL games can get boring at times and things can be a slog, but that just brings AFL back to the pack, none of the others can elevate to the levels that AFL can.

can anyone post a still of the four carlton players all in a row running defensively at 11.15 in the last? an amazing scene...........
Best I could do at this time of night (morning?) eek! Got a bit too much before the bit you wanted, but wanted to include the tackle that popped the ball loose ...

Damn, attachment didn't work. Does anyone know if there's a limit on attachment size?

Just watching the replay. Doc’s goal just ran. How good that the comm team just shut up and let them vision and the Bagger army express the moment. Tear again.

The chase a few minutes later might be just as inspiring!
Yep. I haven’t enjoyed the commentators for years but Thursday night to a man they were all quite good. I think it was Bennet, Watson and Jones actually added some good insights. Beauty.

Love love love Cerra. He's that rare type of balanced mid that everyone needs. Inside/outside, quick hands, clean, kicks both feet.
Can not wait to see him and Walsh in the same team. Epic 10 year combination incoming.

And I love Durdin, he is a player. I love them all but he's a new fav.

Lots to work on, loads to work with. Bloody special night at the G, you could feel it in the air.
He's an excellent pick up. Such a smart player and not just an outside player. And how elite is he on both feet? Loved him tonight.

Harsh on many of these players as far as not recognising their roles and the team things they did. Gov was better than 6, Martin worse. Weitering, Durdin, Silvagni and McDonald better than 5s. TDK way better than 3. See his clearance work in the last? Williams did a great job on Martin. Owies pressure in the forward 50 was fantastic. Just not understanding your scoring system.

There were 5. One was in the corridor in the same line as them, as an out option. We moved as one in lines.

Tigers have a few players who look like they have gone on a season too long.

JR - is there ever a time he is not looking for a cheap free. Just doesn't want to take possession.
Cotchin - the fire looks to have gone and isn't prepared to work hard
Cotchin stood no chance when he followed Crippa into the forward line. Crippa eats more than Cotchin for breakfast!

Maybe we’ll change the premiership quarter to the fourth. There’s something special about running over oppo when it matters.
I was really impressed of how the boys played 4 quarters with more in the tank. That change from past seasons is huge. The whole team was doing plenty of running in both directions and in packs. The humidy at the game was really high aswell and the boys still ran the game out extremely well.
Blue skies ahead.

Kennedy has finally become the player that most thought he would be.

He’s finally injury free, something people need to think about when potting people.

AFL is such a brutal game on the body and needs very high levels of fitness, fitness can only come from continuity of playing and training on a very consistent basis and he’s been able to do that only over the last year or so. Touch wood it stays that way as he’s just a beast.

It is so incredibly difficult to concentrate at work today when all I want to do is be on here, watch the replay, listen to all the podcasts, read every article and lick the tears of Richmond fans.
I have been going door to door all over Richmond with a glass asking for any spare tears as I am incredibly parched.

Yep...specially when the injury is ankle. cant do much running, side stepping or any kind of agility work when your ankles are injured. Theyre carrying 99% of your weight.

I think by now just about everyone is on the kennedy bang wagon and for good reason.

It’s the best sporting game in the world by the length of the Flemington straight, I’m convinced if it was played in Europe or North America as their indigenous game initially it would be the world game by now.
But I’m happy to keep it our game!!

Re Kennedy:

His effort on the wing to get the ball back off them and then set up play was phenomenal.

Has arrived,maybe even A grade.

We really needed a number of players to step up and start playing to potential in order to make that next leap.

Out of all the players I earmarked Kennedy was not one of them. I saw him as a Cripps fill in if he ever got injured and that was it.

How wrong was I! Always liked Kennedy, he’s a farm boy so he has the right type of values. His effort was always first class, just thought he was a meat and potato player, blessed with the effort but not the talent.

Boy was I wrong! With Cerra and Hewett we have now added three genuine A graders to our list over the summer.

Mark my words our midfield is now elite, our defence is elite and our forward line is elite.

This team is in its cohesion phase, once the canvas is finished competition watch out!

I’ll have to add my mea culpa on this, last year when Docherty came back his on field stuff was genuinely pretty ordinary and I thought he was gone - i was wrong.

Testament and kudos to Sam - what you’ve found over the past few months is nothing short of extraordinary.

Me too!

gotta love Doc, what a human being!

Absolute warrior. How can all the lads not be inspired by him?
