Not just younger and fitter.
We have a lot of incredibly talented players too. Just bad luck a fair few weren't playing tonight.
Anyway. You won so congrats.
Any player who throws Doc on the ground is a complete arse though. And that eye gauge to Saad was revolting.
Can't stand thuggish players.
Ours or anyone elses.
Who threw Docherty? Look I’m sure there are plenty of words said out there, we’ll never know will we.

You do, you have something like 15 first rounders or something don’t you?

I hated Bolton showing Docherty the ball, I thought we’d lose after that as we probably would’ve deserved it.

Also the melee at three quarter time, unlucky, Prestia did push him yes but it was unlucky to go into one of his own players.

A lot of people pointing at our injuries but this game had nothing to do with that. In fact, I thought our backline stood up all game. 38 inside 50s in the first half (wasn’t much better in the 2nd half either) is horrendous and that’s due to the lack of pressure from our mids and forwards. Contest work was terrible in the first half and our execution was poor throughout the contest. In saying that, we still got the game back on our terms in the 4th and it looked like rd 1 all over again.

How that kick from newnes late was conclusively touched is beyond me. That was as obvious a phantom call as it could get. Will need to see it again to make sure but jeez it was momentum sapping..

We’re just not good enough yet (OK ready to dodge the bullets coming my way for saying that)…sure, injury hurts too, but top 4 sides have composure under pressure and just beat sides like Richmond tonight. We didn’t and despite getting within 3 points, if we were top notch, we’d never have got to that point to begin with.

If we make finals great. But 23’ has to be the year we actually go somewhere.

How dumb did we play in the first half? Playing handball-happy in the pouring rain.
Constantly playing from behind in the contest.
Getting slaughtered in the centre clearances despite winning the taps.
Harry and Charlie competing directly against each other.
Better in the second half but still constantly turning it over coming out of defence and having to pile in on defence to reinforce the floodgates.
Would love to play Richmond in September however we are in massive strife.
Hard run home, no reprieve on the injury front and our strength from the first half of the year has disappeared.
We are more resilient no doubt - but this is going to be super tough.

I'd Durdin S is seriously injured maybe we can go to the mid to mid late season draft and take the next best tall defender from the state league.

Might get to the stage that tall defenders might refuse to join us due to the injury jinx.
Like combustible drummers joining Spinal Tap?

If Martin is the cream on the top player you all suggest... Then it must be a poor tasting cake...

He's massively over paid has done sfa since he has been here, has 2 or 3 notable games...
Would rather Honey in who actually shows some mongrel, hunger and determination (something Martin was suppose to offer)
I've been driving this bandwagon for a few years, still a few seats, but it's filling fast

Plowman, Durdin and Cottrell need to be dropped.

Bring in Stocker, Honey and Dow.

Plowman and Cottrell were pretty damn good.

I had no issue with the backline tonight, they were seriously under the pump, clearly undermanned and held up reasonably well

Sure, a few contests young would want again, missed mark or kill the contest and same with durdin, but they are still learning.

Thought durdin was pretty good first up and will be much better for the experience. Quite a few good spoils and decent disposals. Ok, one bad handball to plow and kick under pressure (your not in Kansas anymore)

Saad and doc were great, Newman was ok (not his best game)

Mids struggled. Cripps was ok, Walsh great first QTR, poor after that, Kennedy really bad, Hewitt pretty decent but needed more

Was really disappointed with the fwd setup, sat way too deep and cost us

Then we get it deep and they have an extra.....wtf was out extra doing all night?

Sums it up perfectly.

They had 76 (!!!!) i50s and still only scored 26 times (34% - B/L actually held up alright)

More they way they got the ball easily through our team defence (zone/ press).

And agree on mids / fwds too. Harry/ Charlie were double-teamed all night. So where was our spare? They seemed to still be able to work it out of their backline to a spare number with relative ease.

We seem to be paying with less energy and dash since the Sydney game. Not sure if they’re fatigued or what’s going on, but we seem to have los our “flair”. Worrying.

I don't agree at all.
Pitto and Weiters and, Guv back...
Cerra back...
Marchy...
We could still come very close this year.

Jack Martin is playing himself into a delisting and a SANFL career. Was disgusting tonight. Involved in damn near 20 Richmond turnovers, either with ball in hand (though that was ****ing rare) or just getting killed in a contest. Awful.

On a wet night, give me Cottrell every time. Fit. Gets to next contest. Hard. Tries. Keeps it simple. Jack on those fronts is no, no, no, no and no. ****ing flake.

I’m still interested in how Plowman going for the mark looking at the ball and the Richmond player wrestling him with his back to the back gets no free kick. The. The obvious Saad eye gouge, Cripps grab and pull back of the jumper. Doc not having marked the back yet gets high tackled and pinged for holding the ball. A touched goal that wasn’t touched. Can I go on.
No point really. Clutching at straws. We had the chances but could not get it done. Too many people making excuses for a disappointing performance, especially in the first half.

Try watching it not in slow motion, wasn't deliberate to eye gouge. He was swiping, as most players do and just happen to get him in the eye.

Pig’s Bum. He knew exactly what he was doing. Filthiest player since Cotchin.

Still don’t know how our boys let Bolton get away with his taunt. Surely you put the crosshairs on him.
