Highmore COVID and Kyle left the club apparently

Worst kept secret for a while. Good luck to the kid. I hope he's at peace whatever he does.

Now onto Adams...

Fair chance Adams is having an extended rest after a whirlwind start to his time in the AFL

Adams and Kyle both came to the "big league" through a less than normal pathway.

Kyle basically had no interest in AFL until a few years ago and Adams was a young country kid training in Mt Gambier and doing a 10 hour round trip to play in the SANFL on weekends.

Its tough enough as is to reach the AFL without throwing in those sort of complications.

Good luck to Kyle, was headed in the wrong direction and Matty Parker helped him "find" himself a bit. Hope he's strong enough to keep progressing.

Adam’s was working with one of the rehab guys the other day. Seemed to be in good shape.

Hopefully these guys can p*ss off tonight's passengers. There are guys here who have performed all year, yet a few puddings get promoted on the back of little or nothing. Smash it lads!

Really the only guys there who have "performed all year" are Highmore and Joyce, but given our backline has (until last night) been going well I don't see a spot for them. Who else has "performed all year"?

As you said, Highmore and Joyce. Then there's Sharman after his injury, Windhager, even Campbell has been serviceable if we want to persist with two rucks instead of playing an injured Marshall.

The point is all have shown more than Clark and Jones, and Paton has been below par all season but hasn't been sent to find form when others are banging the door down. Same stuff every year. Selecting on reputations and contracts.

Breeds soft efforts like last night. Absolutely not the sole reason though.

Sharman and Windhager have been in the ones though and played themselves back out of it

Exactly the point, they go back and find form. Jones and Clark didn't even play themselves into form in the twos in the first place! No substance for selection.

Yeah that's the way it works everywhere though. Windy and Coops have played like 5 games each or whatever, clearly guys who've played 50 or 100 are going to get in ahead of them even with less form.
