On a side note is it Mitch in the Toyota HiLux ad as the tradey when the family are looking for BonBon - famous line "sorry mate". Looks a lot like him.

OMG, yes!

Looks more like McGov in real time rather than freeze frame.

For real-time, watch here (vid starts at the right moment):

EDIT: I orig thought you meant the dad, not the tradie.

To my eye he looks about as much like BonBon as he does the tradie.

And that's not a body shape insult, I don't see any resemblance...

EDIT: I haven't had my eyes checked since before Covid.
Not the father looking for Bon Bon just the 2 second cameo. Hoping that someone with some I.T. capacity can post.

EDIT. I haven't had my eyes checked since Digby Morrell was going around.

Martin is not a single bow string, he's got an absolute array of skills and can play multiple areas on the ground really well. He does get hammered, maybe not enough but why is that a bad thing? Do we want to hammer players.... His potential is extremely high and yet un tapped. He's had injuries and played for the 2 absolute worst development clubs in the league. Let's see how he goes under Voss. He is absolute class and skill.
You totally missed the intention of my post, 90% of the posts on here hammer Dow expecting more of him because he was pick 3,
while no one gives a toot cahoot about how Martins travelling because he came for free. Personally think we payed a lot of money for
a player that's body is not standing up to the riggers of AFL. Ever time he plays well he gets injured, he goes to hard and his body
is not built for it, I wouldn't play him midfield he will miss to many games.

Actually wouldn't mind seeing Dow trialled in defence. I think defending could take the uncertainty out of his game that we see with him and would help develop the defensive side of his game which has been lacking. Play a little bit on the ball and a little bit in defence if one of our defenders is going to be used in part as a midfielder. He might be no good at all but I wouldn't be surprised if he did a good honest job as a defender and it may well develop parts of his game that are lacking, even if it makes him a little more defensively minded and more defensively instinctive then that is a step forward. Could swap with Martin on the ball for example.

Under Greg Williams tutorage can see Paddy going past most on our list,
It's not his tank or reading of the play It's all between the ears
He wont be a HB Paddy performed admirably as a forward.
He had a lot more shots on goal than anyone we tried up forward at the time (Cunningham, Fisher)
I'm not buying into the general consensus on here he is not a forward to me he is a mid who can rest forward.
The belief comes he walks past a very silky but very inconsistent player in Martin.

Are you related to Paddy, or a close friend?

Is Josh Cripps still battling it out for that last train on spot? Just heard a whisper he is back in WA, haven't seen any recent announcement from Carlton on who got that last train on spot.

Yeah I’m of the belief and have said it before that he can rotate as a forward as well, and in a better system with better forward entries and structures where the forwards can greatly benefit much more, he can cause some damage offensively…

The endurance is starting build up to an acceptable level, defensive chasing and running down opposition will take his game to another level when he can engrave this into a non negotiable…

Hi folks, I wasn't sure where to post this.
I'm looking for a young player with potential to draft in the PSD of our keeper league.
Luke Parks seems to have had a lot of very low scores. Is this because he has been the sub many times?
Cheers.

Back in the peaking order of 3rd talls, that is more a stopper than an interceptor/accumulator

Nah, his role just isn't conducive to decent scores. He isn't an interceptor yet, more a pure lockdown third tall (at least at the moment). I wouldn't recommend picking him up, at least not this year

And what makes you say that?

Carlton's own injury news wasn't exactly emphatic about him playing rd 1: Injury news: Updates on Docherty, McKay, Walsh and more

I didn't say he won't play round 1, I said there's doubt. Which there is given he's missing training at the moment and won't be playing the pre-season matches.
They said he'll likely play the proper pre-season game and in any event is targeting Round 1, AFL.com article was sensationalist tripe.

Can i ask, why do people think playing a non defender in defence will suddenly teach them how to defend in a midfield position better. In defense he doesn't have a dynamic 360 degree rolling contest where he can lose an opponent, he doesn't have to break forward or defense.... What he does have to do in defense are non translatable skills. Playing off the back shoulder, spoiling, the positioning is completely different. Why not teach him to defend by making him understand where he has to stand at stoppages, increasing his fitness base so he can track back better and help him read the fall of the ruck contest. Playing him in defense sounds like it interferes with someone elses development and doesn't really teach him what he's missing. If what you want is accountability you teach him through watching film and helping him understand and then smashing him on the track so he's fit enough to do whats being asked.

Basically teaching a whole new role with its own nuances to a guy who's struggling with his main job already sounds like a prime way to overload someone and burn them out/ destroy their confidence.
