It’s all talk at this moment, but everything coming out of the club sounds like the Penny has finally dropped for McGov and he’s fully embraced and committed to getting the best out of himself.

Hopefully we can finally see that potential as an intercepting 3rd tall.
Could be very lever Esque. Not saying as good but that type

I would very much like Dow to cement his spot because his burst is special ... but where does he play when Cripps, Hewett, Cerra are in the middle? I think this is his biggest query.
I believe most clubs rotate 6-7 via the midfield, so Dow should be a strong feature of these rotations, needs to get that consistent level of performance, hopefully that will come under the new coaching direction, no reason why he could not play off a wing and be part of the mid-field rotations.

What’s less realised is how good his handballs are. Slickest since the fabled #7.

if only he imposed himself for four quarters.

I dont think he has the endurance or foot skills to play wing.

Both of those areas should have been addressed during the off season, that is part of the coaching team's role to take some of these players to the next level

You mean playing a player out of position when he isn't capable of doing so, yet we are critical of the last coaching group of doing the same things

Some players have the attributes of playing multiple positions, others don't, like Prestia and many others, Dow is only a mid, for now

Anything of substance to add or just a weak jab veiled in pure speculation

He didn't make any points whatsoever.... What he said was just a really weak jab veiled by pure speculation.

'Fogarty might be a good trade if he becomes a good player'

Good point? Or just absolute nothingness used to veil some cheap jabs

Another cheap jab.

Would think there is a decent chance at least one of Lazzaro, Carroll and Stevens has a better career than Fogarty though, if not more than one.

l think if you review the original post one of the posters felt Dow was not part of best three minds which is a fair comment.

l indicated he would be part of our mid field rotations, cannot see him being a forward at all so playing a role on a wing is not out of the question and releasing one of Walsh/Cerra/Cripps when required.

I think Dow is only an inside mid. People think his issue is endurance, but it's more to do with not being able to read the play allowing him to win possession when the ball is in play, outside of a stoppage.

So, I believe the best thing for Dow is to be allowed to hunt the footy or making himself an option for a handball receive, before trying to add other layers to his game

I can't wait to see how Voss and co utlilise his strengths. Starting Thursday.

One bow string. Limited footballer. And the one STRING he has is not good enough to cement a starting midfield role.

McKay can't play crumbing forward, full back, and doesn't seem to help the team much when playing the ruck.

One bow string. Limited footballer. Teams will expose us with that kind of tactical deployment. 🙃

If Dow got the freedom Cripps and Walsh were given last year, he would have been fine (and was). Just needs a little coaching to iron out when to floor it and when to be more patient.

We shall see I guess.

So is Martin for that matter, a 27yo who has only shown potential, for some reason avoids the wrath while others are hammered.
Martin is not a single bow string, he's got an absolute array of skills and can play multiple areas on the ground really well. He does get hammered, maybe not enough but why is that a bad thing? Do we want to hammer players.... His potential is extremely high and yet un tapped. He's had injuries and played for the 2 absolute worst development clubs in the league. Let's see how he goes under Voss. He is absolute class and skill.

Interesting comment

Martin is a better forward, mid, HB when compared to Dow

Under Greg Williams tutorage can see Paddy going past most on our list,
It's not his tank or reading of the play It's all between the ears
He wont be a HB Paddy performed admirably as a forward.
He had a lot more shots on goal than anyone we tried up forward at the time (Cunningham, Fisher)
I'm not buying into the general consensus on here he is not a forward to me he is a mid who can rest forward.
The belief comes he walks past a very silky but very inconsistent player in Martin.

I disagree, but rather than this becoming circular, we can review it as the season plays out

The interesting part for me is that Voss has been quoted saying that Mitch came to see him to suggest that he play back this year. I was one who was prepared to defend Teague to the death (which unfortunately was what happened) but surely it was an experiment worth trying at some stage in his reign. Seems almost like a natural fit to me (great hands, great kick and less chance of muscle strains running in straight lines at the ball - not to mention a brother who goes O.K. there). Anyway hope that it works out - payoff could be immense if it does.

On a side note is it Mitch in the Toyota HiLux ad as the tradey when the family are looking for BonBon - famous line "sorry mate". Looks a lot like him.
