Any sightings of Josh Cripps and Tyreece Leiu?

from HS a couple of days ago.

Josh Cripps (East Fremantle)

The brother of Carlton co-captain Patrick will get an opportunity to also become a Blue this pre-season. While his brother is a tall beast of a midfielder, Josh is a 199cm ruck/forward.

His 2020 was scuppered when he ruptured his ACL, which wiped out his draft year.

He returned with 8kg added to his big frame and impressed for East Fremantle at colts level, kicking 16 goals in 12 games and averaging 15.6 disposals.

Tyreece Leiu (Eastern Rangers)

Also training with Carlton, Leiu is a unique prospect. From Rowville, Leiu spent a large portion of 2021 impressing as a tall intercept defender.

But until last year Leiu, 194cm tall, was more of an inside midfielder who would also go forward.

It is this versatility that has the Blues impressed.

If Lieu is 194cm in that pic, Cripps Snr looks down on Manute Bol.

Williams unlike our other directors is full-time and paid in his role as footy director. If the intent was just for him to fulfill his governance responsibilities he wouldn't need to be. I suspect there is an agreement that he supports part time as a skills coach in addition to his board role. It allows him to be closer to the football program and gives the club an extra coach paid outside the soft cap.

Was my thinking as well re: ability to get GW back on the park with the skills Dept but bolstered with the official directors role (certainly hands on now but had a say in things once appointed over the off-season).

Be interesting if there’ll be $ room for Sav to return back at the club one day.

The ROI would pretty good you'd think.

If accuracy improved by 5% thats and extra goal a game (when averaging 20 ahots at goal) roughly.

Think about how many games we lost by less than a goal a couple of years ago. That could easily translate to 2 extra wins in the season.

How much do you reckon his services would cost? $50-80k for a 5-10hr commitment per week? $150k?

I reckon it would be well worth it.

Diesel is a good resource to have. If he is out there pushing players efforts and how they compete and their work rate than that's great. It backs up what he said in previous interviews. If all he's doing is setting and enforcing standards then that's a small thing but a really important thing. Good to have him there.

Yes agree but I don’t think diesel is the corporate/office type and I’m sure the club seniors know this and can compensate accordingly. I’m sure the players love having him out there.

Aye that's fair. Hopefully they are all adults. I just get veeeeerrrryyyyy concerned about anything to do with our Board and the way they deal with the operations side given their diabolical history on that front.

suspect he'll be doing coaching or footy admin courses in the background this season too.

I reckon he probably has already done a few.
