But you would expect an increase in cases over the winter months. Middle of winter, is going to stretch both the AFL and VFL.....
Depends how high a percentage of the population have already had it. I think it'll be high enough to stop another significant wave. Particularly if Australia get Omicron boosters by then. Unless there is another significant mutation and we catch the new strain as well, I think it'll be fine in winter.

True, but aren't we going to see a higher reinfection rate with Covid since the pandemic first started, as we are more out and about, and Omicron has an even higher reinfection rate.
It just seems fantasy to think that this thing is ever going away soon.....

Omnicon is not as bad as Delta so hopefully mean less people in Hospital and Worse

More than half of those in hospital are the unvaxxed. And all of those in ICU. I'd say majority delta ICU. We need to wipe delta off the board, whats remaining.

Depends on how high the real case numbers are and have been. NSW had 310,000 confirmed cases this week. That's with only two days of including rapid tests and many struggling to get tested. Could have easily had double or triple that number. Their population is only 8,000,000 people. It has got to start slowing due to hitting people who've already had it soon. Vic in a similar boat.

Don’t we already have higher vaccination rates than those countries who have experienced significant winter surges in numbers?

I’d be more concerned about another new variant.

Came 2nd in whittlesea best and fairest in 2021.

Zach Molloy, Whittlesea

Still only 19 but has kept some of the best forwards in NFL Division 1 quiet this season, including Ahmed Saad and Shane Harvey. Had a pre-season trial at Northern Bullants and has used it as motivation. Team of the Year honours surely await.

What an embarrassment the VFL competition has become.

4 Byes?

League is uneven due to Aspley's departure, VFL/AFL teams usually share byes and I believe they are using bye's as a "break in case of emergency" as well due to COVID. You will see teams being rescheduled to their bye weeks if COVID causes too much unavailability.

Yep, it’s a difficult balance. The impact of a creating winning culture vs game/role exposure. Potentially could make in an match move if the young player is getting beat and at times we’ve filled key posts with medium sized VFL listers especially when injuries have built.

We need a VFL reserves. I remember when Macaffer was cutting his teeth for Willy reserves. Some draftees aren't at VFL level and benefit from a slower development pathway.

Yeah, Hopefully.

I have one game down for the pies in the meantime -

I wish they would share this fixture around instead of playing at Morwell every year.

That... and the fixture only a short term issue as the AFL probably banking on a smaller comp in 2-5 years as more standalone clubs like Aspley struggle... especially once a licencing fee or reduced AFL subsidies come into play

So it appears we will have access to a list of 20 Collingwood VFL players to access if COVID hits

Any players AFL quality on our vfl list?
Hartley Jetta Eggnolesse-Smith Tardrew Booth and Husthwaite might be capable

This is going to sound harsh, but if they were AFL quality they would be on AFL lists.

My thoughts:
Hartley and Eggnolesse-Smith would be our best replacements.
Tardrew could be okay and would play whatever role you give him, but wouldn't expect more than a poor man's Josh Smith or John Noble.
Booth, Fowler, and Husthwaite and others are not gonna do much more than make up the numbers.
Jetta is past it unfortunately.

Unfortunately the gap between AFL listed and VFL listed players is just far too high I reckon.
