Much needed especially with AFLW played there. Assume the blue is the protective wrap covering aluminium? If so they look good. Slightly taller and much deeper though, so will be interesting to see how they interact with the terraces/boundary and sight lines from the Ryder Stand.New interchange benches at vic park

Was wearing 45 at trainingI assume they’ve just rolled out Cox’s jumper for the photo. Perhaps a chance to have 47 again.
He might Finally Debut for usHartley is a very solid addition.
Been around multiple clubs. Can do it all at VFL level... defend, ruck forward.
Let’s hope he is also a ‘Covid emergency’... senior squad could do with that kind of depth
I like the addition. At times we’ve been exposed when a mature opponent has been too big for a developing key back.Hartley is a very solid addition.

Yep, it’s a difficult balance. The impact of a creating winning culture vs game/role exposure. Potentially could make in an match move if the young player is getting beat and at times we’ve filled key posts with medium sized VFL listers especially when injuries have built. It's an interesting one, which highlights the problematic nature of the VFL winning versus development for the AFL team. We need a mature tall to be more competitive in the VFL, but also need to get games into a pretty decent sized group of developing talls on the list.
How much VFL do we realistically see being played this year?
We will have:
- Normal isolating for AFL listed players
- Isolating of VFL listed players
- AFL potentially using top up VFL players
- States changing travel rules
- Etc.
I think there will be another surge of cases when schools go back and then a pretty steep decline as so many will have had it already. Things getting normal by March. How much VFL do we realistically see being played this year?

QLD now have 0 travel rules, doubt they'll impose any. NSW are in the same situation as us. Thats all we have to worry about given SA/WA dont go by our competition. How much VFL do we realistically see being played this year?

But by March, we'll be on a decline, I don't imagine we'll have to worry too much. This will peak in a couple weeks.
Yes it will peak... then come back with a vengeance in autumn and winter. Getting the numbers we are now in summer... omicron will take over completely in winter and the reactionary health beurecrats and politicians will still insist on restrictions, isolation and other measures that have no effect on the Omicron spread...
Long story short... bugger all VFL this year too

So we be back in Lockdown for Winter Then?
Dunno about full lockdown but the virus will be everywhere in the colder months ... and the policy towards it will still be reactionary, and with a lingering ‘Covid zero’ mentality despite Omicron hospitalising less than 0.5% of Victorians who have it (less again if double vaxxed as a fairly large proportion of those in hospital are unvaccinated)
And we all know that while the big money events like Melb cup carnival, AFL and Aus Open will have the money and political will to go ahead... State and local league footy will be treated differently
