The only downside if successful is you’ll have to stop reading Big Footy (like most parents of players do…I assume).

The Victorian Football League is aiming to kick off the 2022 season in March as it plans a 21-round campaign for the 21 clubs.
League officials have circled the March 26-27 weekend for the bounce of the ball.

All clubs will play 18 games.


Teams will field 23 players next year, at least six of them under the age of 22.

For the aligned teams, the 23rd player must be selected from the NAB League.

The unfortunate reality is the VFL has no hope competing with the money local footy can offer
Yeah, being a vfl listed player in an aligned team, there is never a guarantee you will play because the teams are made up of afl listed players, so its best for them to have a local team to play for.

And clubs like Preston and Frankston wouldn’t attract players at all if they couldn’t get money in the bye weeks and qualify for finals
