I think the biggest name we could get is Sydney's Jake Lloyd, excellent ball user and a former BNF winner.
Other than that we are unlikely to attract any big name player. Even GWS at their peak couldn't attract big name players so what chance are we?

The stand rule and resulting speed of the game now doesn't suit Lloyd. He has a high DE because he loves chipping it around the backline endlessly.

If we get Heppell then I don't see the point of Lloyd.

Yyeeessss, this is the same guy that thought dragging out foundation members to the stadium to tell us there are 20,000 members was a great idea

I love Tony but he does talk some shit from time to time

If there was to be some disgruntled players around essendon I'd hope we are making a pitch for mason redman or Nick hind.
To replace rankine we need someone with some good foot skills in the front half of the ground. I guess there is still the slightest chance dusty wants to head our way, tarryn thomas name will keep coming up. Then there's breust or wingard, wouldn't mind breust not sure on the character of wingard.
Would be asking port what it would take to get riley bonner out of his contract, they may be interested before he is free agent next year.
Ben McKay is rumoured to be gettable as is Haynes from gws.
Would take rachele from crows for rankine.
If we cant extract a good player or two, we get Brisbane's first and turn 5,12? Or 5 and our first next year into 1 or 2 from north/ west coast. Draft wardlaw or sheezel and hollands.

Ranks gone;

Replacements for 2023

1. Buddy OOC 1-2 year deal 600k
2. Junior Rioli OOC 2-4 year deal 400-500k
3. Tarryn Thomas 2023 600k
4. Trade up and get Harry Sheezel
5. Dusty ;) 2 year 1.2mil

Off topic a little bit but our history with drafting first round indigenous players isn't looking flash;

Harley Bennell
Steven May
Jack Martin
Jarrod Garlett
Callum Ah Chee
Izak Rankine

Harley was a star but did what he did to himself.
May wasn't first round and is also one of the worst human beings we've had at the club.
Martin lol
Garlett extra lol
Ah Chee was a reach and a stupid trade
Ranks is a disappointment but not much more the club could do

Not devastated about rankine. Feel he would have been similiar to wingard and martin and just that flash in the pan player with little consistancy.

As long a suns get something decent in return then its not the worst thing to happen

Riley Bonner most likely to head to Brisbane next year.

Yep Riley Bonner with a career contested possession rate of 31% is an inside mid :drunk:
