I wonder if the Sharp trade will be one of the side pieces in todays AFL deadline day extravaganza crap they have tried to push, or if it has died down with Freo looking to have a busy day ahead with other trades.

Not been much talk in the last couple of days.

Trade radio was talking to Cameron yesterday..
Just sounds like Cameron is waiting for a better pick from Freo.

Will prob get done..

Currently we've lost Rankine, Corbett and Bowes. Gained Long and Berry - so Rankine tips it over into the negative from a losses/gains perspective. If we also lose Sharp and possibly Fiorini (looking less likely) it looks pretty poor BUT we do have money now or so we're told. The pressure to sign Anderson and Rowell sooner rather than later must be massive. We need a BIG surprise in the next day or so to settle the nerves.

Picture this, this year is 2023...
  • On the eve of the season beginning it's announced that best friends Noah Anderson and Matt Rowell have both re-signed with us.
  • We start the year well and pull off some surprising upsets in the first half of the season led but our inspirational skipper Touk Miller and Noah Anderson. Ben King has also fit back into the team seamlessly and our forward line looks like it could challenge any team.
  • It's now mid-season and the media begins to speculate about players we could be eyeing off. Touk is also in the discussion as one of the hot favourites for the Brownlow.
  • Jed Walter is absolutely killing it at the national championships and is a lock for a top 5 selection in the draft. Jake Rogers and Ethan Read are also playing well and being talked about as potential first round picks.
  • We're now three quarters of the way through the season and we're inside the top 8 but our place in the finals isn't assured yet.
  • It's going to take a few more solid wins but Touk says he's confident we can do it. As luck would have it, we find ourselves in a situation where a win over Brisbane in the QClash will secure us a finals position...
  • We secure a finals position with the required amount of wins being achieved and now we're going into our round 23 clash with an eye on a home finals.
  • Mission accomplished. We're secure the win and the percentage boost needed to finish 6th and the city is a buzz about what our team is capable of achieving this year after a few wins over several top 4 opponents. We've also well and truly broken our all time club membership record and are nearing 30k members.
  • The lead up to our first ever final is massive. The tickets sell out within hours of their release. Richmond is coming to town.
  • The media begins to hype up the Tigers chances of winning another premiership after securing the likes of Taranto and Hopper over the off season but come game day we're all over them. We hand Richmond and almighty 40 point spanking in front of a raucous home crowd.
  • Onto the next week and we face the daunting task of our first ever away final at the MCG and our opponents happen to be the biggest club in the land - Collingwood. We know it's going to be a hard slog in a wet Saturday night in Melbourne but we also know Brisbane are waiting for us the following week and discussions have already begun about the potential first ever QClash preliminary final at the Gabba.
  • It's a back and forth game with the Pies and we're into the last 5 minutes with less than a kick the margin between the two...
  • I'll stop here and let you decide how the rest of the finals series plays out.
  • Now we're into the off season. We've been linked to a huge name through free agency/trade and we're eyeing off trading our first round pick to secure him.
  • Jed Walter is a slam drunk top 3 prospect and both Jakes Rogers/Ethan Read are also top 30 talents. Lucky we secure all those points last year so we can bring in all of these four talented players in the off season.
  • We're now being talked about as a genuine top 4 team going into the 2024 season...
This is how I believe the club envisions the next 12 months to play out. Is it realistic? Perhaps. Time will tell but I can tell you this much, it's going to be one hell of a ride and I'm excited!
Sorry
Just getting up to speed
By your calculations can we still make finals this year?

Wouldn’t put it past them. The “Family” club is one of the biggest lies to have ever been perpetuated in the AFL. They are ruthless.

You're not wrong - looks like they will be getting Cooper Stevens from Geelong.
For a late pick or late future.

A pick #16 from 3 yrs ago for nothing. Certainly less than the pick Geelong gave us.

I bet we didn't even think about asking.
Unbelievable.

I would laugh my arse off if Brisbane f-up the Dunkley trade by trying to shortchange the Dogs and we select him in the PSD.
A midfield of Miller, Anderson, Rowell, Swallow and Dunkley might finally give us enough firepower to beat the Lions in the QClash.
Oh who am I kidding, Cameron doesn’t have the balls to pull off such a move.

Is Cooper Stephens a better prospect than Davies, Flanders or Hollands? Because he would be taking one of their places in the rotation.

Then you would melt that Flanders leaves next year due to lack of opportunities.

Stephens looks a good young player, but wasn't fit enough to run out games this year.

Seems very believable that we are backing the young mid's we already have.

Cameron on SEN now.

We have now pillars to take us to finals. Strategy to create cap space moved forward.

We will have cap space next 2-3 years to target players.

Collecting talent done, now it's building a team.

Leadership group involved in all list management.

Difficult talk with Bowes, wanted to play midfield.

Pick 7 a carrot for teams to be interested in that amount of money. Already 9-10 top selection recently, bringing in pick 5, some academy kids coming in next year, this was window to do something like this.

Still discussion with Freo about Sharp.

Fiorini stays.

Hasn't really showed much even in vfl

Especially when we rotated so little this year. It really was just Miller, Anderson and Rowell. You'd hope to see their numbers reduced a bit next year.

It’s a tricky balance.
We want to continue improving and win enough games. Miller, rowell, anderson, swallow are the guys capable of doing that.

But we also need to get enough experience for our other players.

Davies, Flanders etc.. need some reps.

If the goal is winning premierships, we need more than 1 look in the coming years.

The risk is burning out Rowell and Anderson, especially Rowell. I'd expect to see more variety this year. Another pre-season should help too.

Flanders is primed. A midfield rotation of Miller, Anderson, Rowell, Swallow, Davies and Flanders alone is going to be top 4 in comp sooner rather than later.

We don't need to spend cap luring over unproven talents.

This is what wet dreams are made of.

Any updates from potential catch ups or calls with club officials that some have mentioned on here?

Might be just wishful thinking or me trying to justify the clubs incompetence, but I truly believe Flanders is the guy in the making with increased midfield opportunities.

He already looks burnt out to me.
In case people don't know he carries OP it's so obvious he's lost that burst speed he had in his first 3 games.
I hope he gets over it and it's not something he carries his career.

Do they rate his chances of gaining it back?
