I see Nathan Broad is out of contract again, we had a crack at him 2 years ago but ended up with Markov.

Instant upgrade on Lemmens/Farrar/Long. Strong in the air and speedy enough to play on any sized forward. Could cost a third rounder given his age.

Maybe a upgrade on those 3 but not on Crab.
Both can play as short ruck’s too

I am expecting farrar to improve a lot this year he showed glimpses last year but his body kept letting him down and with another pre season should help him and he’s still only played 27 games

Caleb Graham… that’s is all

He needs no intro.

Jy Farrar has shown so much ability - I really hope he gets a clear run at locking down a best 22 place, rather than get hit with another injury.

Farrar, Graham, Collins, Ballard, Budarick and Long have a ton of potential to be an awesome combination if they can stay on the park.

Add in Ellis and Wellers run of half-back when they rotate through, then our back 8 is more than good enough to help us to finals.

I'm really looking forward to Long and Berry giving us a real physical presence on the field. It's really only been Holman and Collins who have been 'flying the flag' consistently so far.

Expecting big things this year.

We have some exciting talent, tough competitors, ball-winners and game-changers in out best 22 now.

The sky is the limit.

Finals in 2023 for the Suns - and then who knows how far we can go!

I’m still probably hopeful rather than confident we can make the finals. More hopeful than previous years but there’s some super tough competition and we are going to need some good luck with injuries. The talent on our list is terrific, but maybe we just need to gain more experience, and start to learn to string more consecutive wins together. 2024 I think we should be cherry ripe to make the finals. Make them this year and that’s a huge bonus.

Yeah, the competition has never been more even, and one could make case for most teams to make finals.

Good luck with injuries will be important but it looks to me we got a decent depth.

TBH, I was disappointed last year as I felt like we missed opportunity to make finals despite missing King and a bad run with injuries in 2nd half. 11-12 wins were achievable. Who knows, if we made finals in 2022, some top player/s could have joined us already and Rankine stayed.

We were still young in the middle, yet we finished 4th in clearances. But the ball use, 2nd, 3rd pass, spread, turnovers were still the issues. We had a lot of inside 50 (5th) but low conversion. 3rd in clangers is no good.

We are contested, hard to play against. I would like to believe that we are now able to challenge most teams in running capacity. We were the best pressure team even after bye but then dropped a bit. We just need to continue getting stronger physically and working on plan details, execution and mental part.

More synergy from stable list and extra pre-season into Rowell, Anderson, Hollands and others should help. I hope boys worked hard on converting opportunities. It was a big issue for us in a lot of games. I liked when Dew said that Luko did power of work on his kicking. I hope all players did. Even Chol with a beautiful kick missed a lot of easy set shots.

And focus on starts, in most games we fell behind. We had to use a lot of energy just to catch up.

I also think that our defence is more than capable. It's usually about how quickly and easy balls comes in. We play zone quite well. IMO, midfield battle, turnovers, team defence play as important role as personnel in defence. It's probably one year early but personally I am looking forward to seeing how Andrew goes there and hoping Farrar becomes regular and takes game on even more. Will Uwland get opportunity and potentially plays Budarick role?

Cautiously optimistic but far from certain we make finals. It seems players, admin, the whole club work hard and they deserve it. It would be a great reward for them and especially players like Swallow, Miller, Witts.

I think part of the reason for the poor conversion would also be basically the entirely new forward line

Ainsworth, Rankine and Holman had played a bit together
But Chol, Casboult, Rosas, Jeffrey, Lukosius, Davies etc.. would have hardly played together.

Another year should see us having shots at goal from better locations hopefully
You are right though, can think of a number of easy misses. Lukosius, Chol - some of the better kicks the most guilty.

So much depends on how many of our best 26-28 players can go up a level on last year.
Maybe even a 'double-jump' or two into the A grade/elite level like Ando last year or Touk a couple of years ago.

Basically, how many get clearly better than last compared to the competition (who are also getting better).

The good thing is you can see a lot of clear candidates for it this year who have had a good run in the off-season.
King, Chol, Luko, Jeffrey, Rosas, Hollands, Rowell, Davies, The Hype Train, Farrar, Ballard. Plus Sharpy, The Crab, Ace, and Berry.

But potential for improvement is great in the stock market but not worth a pinch of shit when it comes to winning games.

Andrew McLeod

Oh sorry. Didn’t win Brownlow.
2 north smiths though.

Will day the latest player to have put contract talks off for now. Any one of McKay, pickett, day,Gresham or redman would be nice.

Will Day has a wing with his name on it

Do we give Sam day a contract extension just for fun😎

Scott Clayton, is that you?

Will Day the Suns supporter. Get the kid up here with his heroes 😎

Who would Day replace? Not questioning his talent, he looked great in his first year. But every year he got injuries, still skinny, played 33 games in 3 years.
Hawks play him now on wing. I am pretty happy with Hollands, Ellis, Powell, Weller, Luko there. No need for Will :p

Bring him in! He grew up a Suns supporter and I'm confident he'd rather be with us next year as we (hopefully) become a regular finals participant as opposed to Hawthorn who have literally just started their rebuilding phase. His cousin was a part of our inaugural AFL list and is only three games away from life membership with us so as Sam's career probably comes to a close over the next few years, we can bring in another Day for the next decade and continue the name in the red and gold.

We're starting to really get the better of Hawthorn with a bunch of these exchanges (Noah Anderson, Stewy Dew etc) so why not add another by acquiring Will Day? We still owe them one after they swooped on Jaeger O'Meara.
