Make sure your bench has players that will play all games in Round 1 so they generate money. Sangha, Short, Maddinson, Whiteman are all keepers and should rise a lot.

I only have $9,200 free. I am starting with De Kock, Hardie, Matt Short, Jhye Richardson and Colin Munro as my over 150k players.

I need to trade in Short anyway come round 2 so may as well cough up and start with him. Plus I'll be trading Munro out in round 2 anyway to bring in Overton and will trade two others for Strikers as well. Hardie, Short, Richardson and Zampa are the ones I keep all season.

I could wait until Round 2 to trade in Short but there is a very strong chance he is one of the leading scorers that round if he plays to his best. I'll bank on that.
Am warming to Maddinson after he rolled over the arm today in a practice game:

Easy question

Which Strikers are you bringing in?
Matt Short and which other 2?

Work back from there
If somehow i can grab Matt Short for around 200k or so in Rd 2 , id consider.

At the moment I have D'Arcy Short as a cash cow.

Likely two to include are: Overton and probably the other import David Payne.

I dont think Adelaide are that great a side to be honest.

For me I am starting with the two Shorts and will eye to bring in Overton and Payne/Agar. Whichever one I can afford.
I think Matt Short might be a trap bet this season for me. At that price off $244k thats too much. Majority of games this season, he will bowl 2 overs max.I reckon D'Arcy Short might get an over or 2.

There is no way Matt Short is getting more overs bowling if: David Payne (Import), Overton (Import), Bazley, Wes Agar, Thornton all play. And even if 4 of those play in the same team, im still not sure he gets more than 2 overs.

Bazley, Overton and Payne means they have bowling options. Their bowling looks more stronger and more deeper. Its the batting which is the concern. They havent really got great recruits in the batting area for this season for me.

Nic Maddinsons score in BBL12:

I generally think Maddinsons best is past him. And Gades have some older players in Finch and Shaun Marsh in their side. I generally think also those two might be past it as well.

With a fixture against his old mob the Sixers up it might be a case of wait and see. He performed poorly against them last year and the Sixers had their reasons for dumping him from their squad. They knew he couldnt cut it in their first XI.

In terms of Maddison

I don't think he's ever hit his best

I'm not sure he ever will tbh

But given the Gades early draw and his job security and his price he's certainly in the mix to start for me

Maddinson was good the year before though. Fact is he is going to bowl at least 2 overs a game and he is one of a few that can score runs.

He, Finch or Marsh need to be in purely for that 5 game reason and he has the most upside in terms of scoring potential.

De Kock won't play the first two matches due to T10

Plan B now of starting Billings and then upgrading to De Kock.

Question is, who does he replace when he comes in? Harvey did well in the practice game and McGurk has to be there.

Why will he bowl 2 overs a game?

Because of T10 finals?

Hoping De Kock is picked for the T20. Would be good to start with Billings and hopefully utilise a price rise and then trade in De Kock rather than try and start De Kock early.

Trying to get the balance of the team right and can't do that until we know the status of De Kock. Have two Strikers sitting on the bench and starting a couple Renegades and then hope to trade in two Strikers for round 2 and De Kock.

Inglis is the other iffy one. Surely he won't be named in the extended test squad and will be free to play?
Todays news may have helped you in selection of your team.

I have taken your advice and also taken Sam Billings.

Reminder to everyone that this game is very much based around luck, and you shouldn't spend much time or energy thinking about it.
No it's not tbh

The history of coaches who've done well in this format suggest its not based on luck
