Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

Twomey is posting his first mock-draft tomorrow and he's had a chance to talk to clubs so this might give us a general idea of the top ten.
Many of his draft choices will be inferred from each club's current list as not many of us are going to come out with "Yeah Cal, we'll definitely be taking X".
Still, it'll be a fun read for the discussion value alone. I wont give away who he thinks we'll pick but you can maybe guess the two top choices.

Tarkyn O'Leary and Cooper Simpson surely.

Take it for what you will. It’s called genetics. If you don’t choose to believe it - that’s your choice. I understand some brothers in sport are built different - but not in the Duursma case. They are built very similarly.
My brother and I are a few years apart, have exactly the same build and yet as kids he was incredibly quick. I'm not slow but when there was competition between us, he would always destroy me over any distance.

You're making an assumption here that has no basis in fact.

If WCE stand pat then I expect it will be:

1) WCE - Reid
2) GCS - Walter (match)
3) North - Duursma
4) North - McKercher
5) Hawks - Watson
6) Doggies - Curtin

If North trade both firsts:

1) North - Reid
2) WCE - Curtin
3) WCE - McKercher
4) GCS - Walter (match)
5) Hawks - Duursma
6) Doggies - Watson

If North trade only one first (plus later/future picks):

1) North - Reid
2) WCE - Curtin
3) GCS - Walter (match)
4) North - Duursma / McKercher
5) Hawks - Duursma / Watson
6) Doggies - Watson / McKercher

Bang on I reckon.

Correct.

Hawks - Duursma
Doggies - Watson

Shiver me Timbers. Just the thought/looking at that makes me want to puke. Seriously seeing Billings/Bontempelli or McCartin/Petracca there.

Did the Duursma family run over your dog? Xavier was a very good AFL footballer before injury cruelled his last 2 seasons. Zane is more talented than Xavier and is comparable to Fritsch and Gunston with greater potential to play through the midfield than those 2. We can’t miss if Duursma and Watson are available at our pick.

Sam is a big fan of Watson
I suspect Sam can relate to Watson’s plight. As a junior Sam was constantly overlooked in the draft because he was considered the ‘wrong body type’. His career at VFL level was so outstanding that he could simply no longer be ignored. I’d be surprised if we didn’t take Watson if he’s still on the board.

I think if WCE trade their pick 1 to us then Clarko will for sure select Curtin with one of his picks. Then after 2 years if Curtin wants to leave he will cry and simply get another top pick from AFL anyway.

Both out of the Eastern Rangers.

Not at all. I post my opinion and what I think would be best for the club. There are many juniors I don’t rate, and many that I do. Zane just happens to be one that I don’t, and also a player we could be picking up - hence my posts.

In terms of the brothers, Xavier was definately highly rated in his draft. The 2018 draft happened to be the super draft. A very strong draft. Both were first round picks. Both talented juniors. I wouldn’t say Zane is far more talented than Xavier.

Agreed injuries have definitely played a part to where he is today, but that dosent change the fact he’s hardly an AFL footballer.

Watson first priority, steer clear of Duursma imo. Much rather Curtin or Mckercher.

If Curtin is there, surely it must be him? A big bodied utility with high footy IQ who kicks darts. It's a no brainer. He's definitely going to be a radical player. He could play anywhere
Go home factor a huge consideration. He sees himself as a midfielder, not a KPP. Certainly has class, IQ, and a great kick, but lacks the X-Factor and power. Would prefer him over Duursma, but Watson still the stand out imo.

Indeed. I too like the Wiz but there's doubt with the Wiz in terms of how he fares with AFL standard defensive tactics

Tew had an excellent end to the season, and his developing talent was on show in this game. He lost only one defensive duel for the game, was his teams primary rebounding outlet out of the defensive 50, and impressed with his composure and decision making with ball in hand.

Having watched that again if he is top 40 the draft is really weak. He’s a rookie at absolute best.
