Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

Before this season Sam came out along the lines and said that we already have the nucleus, core group of players that will take us to our next premiership. After watching our young group this year l agree. It’s not been the wins/losses for me it’s been observing the character, attitude, determination and professionalism from many of the young men in our club. No need to be desperate or try anything risky with our first pick just try to get another gun quality person kid with it (either Reid/Zane/Wiz/Curtin/Colby). Then add FaS McCabe and Dear …….. and buckle up and let the young group play and come through together for another 50-100 games. Confident that this calculated and deliberate approach in our list management will have us playing finals regularly again soon. Mitch has got a plan and you can see it in front of our eyes.

Take it for what you will. It’s called genetics. If you don’t choose to believe it - that’s your choice. I understand some brothers in sport are built different - but not in the Duursma case. They are built very similarly.

Absolutely they might have different career outcomes and footballing abilities, but I don’t see it in this scenario. I’ve seen enough vision of Zane to suggest he mirrors his brother in tackling/contested work. Their speed and agility also look roughly the same from an eye test.

Xavier is arguably not an AFL standard footballer today.

Your opinion may be different to mine, but that’s how I see it.
You really have no true understanding of the topic and are starting to make yourself look a bit foolish (bordering on stupid).

It's obvious you want the club to take Watson over Duursma and have been doing a decent job of promoting Watson. But you're struggling with your Duursma opinion.

If we take Curtin and Eagles take Reid, it'll be the basis of a trade in 3 years.....playing the long game with Harley ;)

Can people who know more than me tell me why has everyone cooled on Caddy?

Big mobile forward with a bit of prick about him, a la Cameron, Curnow or Buddy. Caddy's ceiling feels like it would be higher than Watson. We talk about Ginni and Watson learning from Bruest, imagine Caddy learning from Gunston....

Is he really a reach at 4?

Yeah Watson and Duursma have shown more. If he was taller he might have come into calculations

Hope Hawks take Curtin. He’s somewhere between Tom Lynch and Grant Birchall. He looks a Hawthorn type.

I keep changing who I hope we get. But it seems NM think they will get Mckercher and Dursma, I hope we take Curtain.

Has all the tools to be a gun CHB, that can play forward and midfield.

He has said that he models his game on the Pav, which would be pretty handy to have.

There are four WA boys tipped to go pick 15 - 25. Can see WC trading 1 to North for 2, 15 & 17 to grab a few local boys. So we will likely be choosing between McKercher and Watson.

With the picks getting pushed back they’ll get selections 19/20 and 22/23.

Doubt they get two of the local WA kids at those picks.

Really hope we end up with Watson if Duursma isn’t available. As someone said before, a forward line of
Ginnivan chol Watson
Moore Lewis macdonald
Is genuinely really exciting and Watson adds the x factor that Mitchell has been wanting for a while

I think Duursma will be gone by our pick and I think Watson should be our first pick.

Noticed there are quite a few 200cm+ prospects in Cal Twomeys top 30. I don’t see it eventuating, further he has a few in there that weren’t even invited to the combine.

I think Jiath also slides beyond pick 40, even if he does we are no guarantee to call his name.

I would prefer we go with a more natural utility like Oscar Ryan that played as a defender for Bushies and VIC Country. Is 187cm but can play back, mid and forward. Very polished player, not sure how he tested at combine.

Reckon Dear makes it to Rookie Draft.

Would any of those picks be good for us in a deal, although I do not think we have the list spot, especially we traded in 4 now, if nth melb and West coast could not do a deal? players like roberts, archie reid, murphy should be available. I guess we do not need to do rebuild in a year, we can have another go at bringing few in next year too.

I am very interested in who we take after McCabe.

Mark McKenzie does his best work After pick 30.
Either that or we have our eye on someone prior with our F1! I still think MaCabe will go pick 20 so bit of wriggle room pre and post his pick for MM, my guess is a KPP for the back line, we have Blankt then Frost so maybe O'Sullivan ?

We have got very little young tall talent so landing 2 197cm kids (Curtin and McCabe) with great skill sets would not be the worst thing in the world. Looking long term it’s hard to name our spine so as much as I want Watson or Duursma, Curtin sliding to us might be a blessing for our next premiership push.

I still cant help thinking Caddy will be one the best from the crop in a few years.

So often the big guys slide. The Kings went at 4 and 6, Naughton went at 9, English went at 19, Curnow went at 12, McKay went at 10. Not to mention Larkey and Lewis. Most would be in the top few for anyone redoing their draft years.

Chol is a good player but is he part of a flag tilt? To seriously challenge in 2 years, the Hawks need a partner for Lewis and Im not sure there is anyone available elsewhere. They are the hardest position to prise away from other clubs as nobody moves the needle like a dominant forward and we wont get a better chance to draft one than this

For a long time this year he was a top 5 prospect so the talent is there and if it pays off we can build a forward line around him for 12 years.

I know im in the minority but I hope they pick him at 5.

I like Caddy too. Reckon there’s better options at our pick but I will watch him with interest

Curtin will be a midfielder at AFL level. His greatest skills are composure and ball use. Not defending and intercept marking. Not a KPP.

McCabe and Dear are 2 KPP guaranteed to land at Hawthorn.

Curtin or Mckercher for me if Watson isn’t available.
