Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

Can people who know more than me tell me why has everyone cooled on Caddy?

Big mobile forward with a bit of prick about him, a la Cameron, Curnow or Buddy. Caddy's ceiling feels like it would be higher than Watson. We talk about Ginni and Watson learning from Bruest, imagine Caddy learning from Gunston....

Is he really a reach at 4?

I'd really love for us to draft him, but we'd need a pick at 6/7/8 to justify it IMO.

i tried harry potter GIF

Caddy was my first choice early on in the season. The push for Watson has me at 50/50. Duursma? Well I've said before that I'm a tad worried to use a pick four on a half frwd flanker. Caddy is a tad heavier and jumps at the ball, goes hard when his turn and is more a constant threat when ball anywhere near him.
But, Curtin is the one that I was told a month or two back that was rated the second best talent in the draft by more than half the clubs. So, interesting times ahead, how I wish we had another top ten pick!

I really like Caddy a lot.
I would love to trade out F1 to get him along with another of the top 5-6 prospects.

The numbers and performances he has put up this season after overcoming illness and injury are impressive. If he had a clear run this season he’d probably be a top 5-6 pick.

It’s not bc of talent that he slides in most estimations. Top picks are all about risk mitigation through exposed form. You want to know what you are getting.

All the others have put up highly consistent and excellent performances this season - or they are exceptional talents like Reid and Walter.

I rate Caddy around 7-8. If he slides further we should trade back in and pick him.

Im not sure that prevents him from being a sound pick at our first though?

We haven't got the assets to trade back in after we have spent our first so that not an option sadly.

I think the upside is so big. Im allright with taking a (very small) risk.

Sounds like the Hawks agree with the majority on here though. Twomey usually has a good idea what clubs are after and we are not linked to him at all.

It would not be a big risk or disaster if we took Caddy with our first, but others have performed better and probably ahead on talent too. Duursma and Caddy are prob the most similar, but Duursma undoubtedly had the better season and also has that something special about him IMO.

Would not be against trading with Dees for pick 6 and their future first and get Caddy. Dees are in turmoil a bit so gamble on them finishing mid table. Then have big crack at FA and picks for trading or draft
Question with that would be their F1 might be higher than pick 11 this year...

I would rather pick 11 this year, dont think McCabe will be budded on around there based on all the phantom drafts

Dodoro might do it for kicks though and getting F1 will provide a great arsenal for next year. Caddy fits a greater need too with KFs scarce in this draft

I do wonder if there was a gentleman’s agreement, after all the Hawks didn’t go out of their way to make him look stupid with D’Ambrosio.

He's not on our radar. We have an abundance of that type already (rebounding defender) and McCabe is, at best, another one. And better than many.
Yes enough romantic stories this trade period he’s not a need. If we are taking a late pick it should be a speculative KP player or a pressure forward.
