Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

It’s taken a while to get here but I’m comfortable taking Curtin at our first pick.. He’s tall, athletic, reads the ball well, is good on the deck, wins one on ones… just has a lot going for him.. Sic will be 29 before next season starts so Curtin would be our next great intercepting defender.. He and McCabe complete our backline..Still want Duursma but that ships sailed, and it might be a good thing in the end..
The sic thing is very relevant.

I have Gold Coast blowing their first 6 picks on Walter, Read and Rogers, that means our pick 44 goes to pick 38 and 47 to 41 = 874 which equates to pick 16 for McCabe after F/S discount!
Bully's 4 picks then kick in for Croft as well as our two for McCabe, given each picked at 13 and 16 respectively.
Pick 49 = 42 , 62 = 50 , 63 =51 and 83 = 71.
Wow.
I wonder what MM and co have planned. mmmmmmm
Sorry mate that’s wrong. I posted on here the likely scenario but you are only removing picks you forgot to add picks in. Each bid adds a pick to the draft so any pick after 38 (suns 6th pick) come in 3 as you add 3 for the bids and lose 6. Then Croft to dogs likely before McCabe for 40s and 50s picks basically hurts us as you add a pick but the picks removed are after ours. Also any leftover points from the last used pick in a bid get converted to the equivalent pick and added in as well.

Yep, that is right.

AFL rules are so opaque that I have never got clarity on one quirk. Do the picks move only after the bid has been fully matched or do they move up in the process. For ex: Suns have 24, 26, 27, 32, 36, 38, 66, 71, 74

Let say Walter is bid at 2( should be at 1 IMO), Suns lose pick 24 first, then have other bids moved 1 step up? So is the next pick they lose now pick 25 or is it still 26. I assume this they have written a software for this, depends on how the algorithmic rule was put in.
Or do suns lose 24,26,27, 32 and the rest of picks move up 3 spots( 4 spots - 1 inserted spot).
Given suns have 8 picks and each move up is around 20 points, Can easily be diff btw 100+ points gained or not, per bid.

I am always interested in these intricacies but there doesn't seem to be enough people questioning AFL for clarity.

I asked a question yday on if delisted player who was contracted will have his contract paid up and a new contract written for relisting as rookie. Responses seem to assume the old contract will continue which doesn't make sense if another club picks up the player.

Yes, I feel a team like Norf will take him:

a) Because he's a great talent
b) He's a bargaining chip if Reid wants to go home
I still don't understand this train of thought. If Reid leaves west coast he nominates his preferred club which will most certainly not be Norf. You pick him as he's best available, hopefully Pavlich light and back your structures to keep him.

Don’t know for sure but my recollection when they show the details of the matched bid I’m quite sure they use the fixed picks they had when bid was lodged. We can check next Monday.

Why do you have to be ITK to have an opinion on a possible draftee?

There are heaps of people like me, who read and listen but have never watched these draftees playing "live".
We all have opinions but they are all based on hearsay.
I was looking for opinions from people who are more educated than I am.

Surely West Coast are holding out hope of securing Curtin with their future first as bait.
If Curtin drifts past us and the doggies they will be eyeing a draft haul of Reid and Curtin.

I'll say it again. With Chad now officially gone, surely we take Wiz. It's an absolute must.
FFS, calm down. It's not official at all. Wait and let it play out.

We weren't factoring Chad into our future calculations though. If he played after the bye he was a 'cherry-on-top' addition. We're going Ginnivan, CMac & Butler (who we drafted for a reason). And that's not to mention Watson if we're going that way ...

Butler? Looked miles off it last year for mine. I'd say he's borderline delist material this year unless he pulls his finger out.
