This is exactly what's happening. North want WC to think they want Curtin. I think the two will eventually settle on pick 2, 15 + 17 for pick 1 + 23. It's not the best offer but outside of taking Reid at 1 I think this is where it all ends up.

Given what the Dogs gave up to move into Pick 5 clubs must have a pretty clear Picture of the top 5 picks in the open draft.

Reid, Duursma, McKercher, Watson and Curtin must be viewed as being miles ahead of the rest.

I don't see the point in doing that trade at all, if Reid wants to go after 2-3 years they will get a better offer than that. Pick 15 and 17 turns in 20 and 22.

From a gamesmanship point of view it makes more sense for them to spread Curtin rumours to throw off the eagles than to dick us over (that’s if they truly have no intention of taking him)

That's been the thinking for the past month. Just about every club would have the same conclusion. That's why Dogs were so keen to get into the 5, that's why Dees are still knocking on the door. Cats have been too but they know no-one would take a pick as late as 8.

There's a strong possibility now that North might not go Duursma & McKercher as most thought. Word around here this morning is that they're looking at a Curtin/Colby combo. There's also a slight chance they might go Duursma/Curtin.
We're not convinced although North are apparently convinced we're taking Curtin - make of that what you will.

I can't say who we've decided on but I'm sure the name we call out will make some people happy and some people unhappy. I will say that if Duursma is still there then we're definitely taking him.
