Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

We're in a very strong position at pick 4.
North is expected to take McKercher and Duursma, leaving Wiz and Curtin available.
If Duursma slips through to 4 I'm expecting we take him.

Otherwise, we know both Melbourne and Bulldogs are keen on Watson. Melbourne will need to pay overs to trade up to pick 4. It all comes down to how keen we are on Watson, or Curtin.

If Curtin is our preference we will likely do the Melbourne trade to access bonus pick/s.

Otherwise if Watson is our preference we will select him at 4.

From what I've heard Geelong is very keen on either Caddy or Wilson, so they won't be trading out of this year's draft (for our future first), but most likely trade back a couple of spots if they think either would slide a little further.

We may have a preference for curtin, but also really like Watson. If we think we could still get curtin at 6, and the fall back is you end up with Watson or sanders, why wouldn’t you trade back to get additional draft capital?

So we are sliding if....???

Do you mean only if Duursma is taken by North?
Only if Duursma is there at our Pick. Melbourne have offered us multiple picks so that they can get Duursma.

As in 6,11 and F1? Or is that a pipe dream
I would hold firm on that as being what it takes to live trade up. If they're prepared to be offering 3 firsts to get Duursma then I doubt they let the deal pass by because we wouldn't give them the Pies F2 back.

90% of this thread is the planning of our collective funeral processions on the slightest chance we even talk to anyone other than Watson.

I don't speak for everyone else at Camp Curtin, but I just think Curtin will be a better player than Watson. If the coaches disagree, so be it. No matter what happens draft night, we will end up with a player on par with the top three of the past few years. Everyone of the top 6 (plus Jed and Read) are special talents.

Curtin and Duursma will be better players IMO, have less risks and are more versatile (not the being more versatile is the biggest deal).

Still, I'm excited to see what the Ginnivan and Watson combo will be.

Bad boiis 4 lyf.

This is it in a nutshell. If Watson is our target we hold 4 and take him, if Curtin is the target we see how the picks go and possibly trade down for 6 & 11 IF we think Curtin will be there.
If we traded down we know the Dees would take Watson and the Dogs wouldn't go another tall, they'd probably go Sanders which would leave us Curtin so if Curtin is our man doing the trade down would make sense as it still would get us him plus someone else like Caddy or O'Sullivan or even Leake according to what KL said.

I wish we knew but that's what's going to make it interesting on Monday night. Wiz or Curtin.

And just on Cats and pick 8, I think they'd be more inclined to do that deal than not. Their midfield is OLD, their whole list is old so two first rounders next year (both highly rated mids esp since our first would be in the 3-5 range again) would be a lot better than a tall they'd pick up this year. The A+ mids would be gone this year by their pick, not one of Reid, McKercher or Sanders would slip past 6.

Interesting times.

So in theory it could end up:

1. Reid WC
2. Walter GC
3. Mkercher NM
4. Curtin NM
5. Durrsma MELB
6. Sanders WB
7. Watson HAW
8. Leake GWS
9. Wilson GEEL
10. Caddy / O'Sul ESS
11. Caddy / O'Sul HAW

If we see Duursma slips to 4 we wont be trading. I dunno who we rate better out of Watson or Curtin but I'm 99% sure we rate Duursma more than either.

Only if Duursma is there at our Pick. Melbourne have offered us multiple picks so that they can get Duursma.
Wouldn’t that defeat the benefit for us though? Firstly we could just take Duursma. Secondly if he’s available it will be because North took Curtin and Dogs will take Watson. So we would get none of Duursma Watson or Curtin at 6
