Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

Can anyone else confirm if McGowan still has connections inside the club? If we can't split Watson and Curtin why wouldn't we shift back from 4 to 6 and take future asset?

No. He burnt them when we gave him the chance to do a podcast and then he bagged us not long after. All his info comes from other clubs think we will do.

I think the horse has bolted on Reid. He is a rare talent. They will take him and dangle their F1 for Curtin.
It will come down to what NM do that will influence us. There 2 picks will be from McKercher, Duursma and Curtin. Based on their list profile McKercher should b the odd one out and we then do cartwheels and take him.
If they don’t select Duursma then we do.
If they don’t select Curtin then the calls will start. I don’t think the dogs go Watson with Weightman there. They are a Bont injury and Libba falling off the cliff away from very poor midfield. Sanders ticks the box for them.
Melbourne u think will come for 4. 6, 11 and F1 for our 4 and F2. If we rate Watson higher then take him. If it’s line ball would we prefer Watson or Curtin and 1 if either O’Sullivan, Caddy, Windsor. I’m sure we can trade 11, Melb F1 for GWS pick 7. I wish MM and Mitch all the best with those decisions

Again, 11 gets swallowed on the Crows bid.

I'm deep down the rabbit hole here. Is there any way we could end up with picks 6, 7 and 8?

Hawks - F1
GWS - 7

Hawks - 4 (+ something?)
Dees - 6 + 11

Hawks - 11 + F2 (Pies)
Geelong - 8 + F3

I'm not sure if we can trade certain future picks without receiving any in return though.

AND this hinges on Melbourne wanting Watson desperately, which I'm unsure of.

1) WCE - Reid
2) GCS - Walter
3) North - Duursma
4) North - McKercher
5) Dees - Watson
6) WBD - Sanders
7) Hawks - Curtin
8) Hawks - O'Sullivan
9) Hawks - Caddy / Leake

Add McCabe as well and we have made out like absolute bandits.

I still don't see why Adelaide will make a bid at Pick 11, there's just better prospects at that pick.
McCabe is a highly rated defender from SA, that has been linked to a potential bid at pick 14. Adelaide are wanting to add Key Defenders to their list.
If Hawks don't match Adelaide still get a local kid that they rate highly, even if it's a little earlier than expected.

As Hawks would be expected to match, it allows an extra option to slide through to Adelaide's second pick at 14. It effectively wipes out our pick.

If we find it hard to split Curtain and Watson, I’m doing this deal.
At worst it would Sanders at our pick, it's a deal you would have to consider.

I didn't follow this draft close enough to gauge the drop off, hard to shake what the Dogs paid to just move up a few places. Inclines me to say just take Pick 4* to the draft.
