Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

May I make what feels like a forlorn wish: No melts tonight please.

I have my personal preference, like everyone else, for Pick 4 but am also aware that MM and his team know our needs and the draftees’ profiles a heck of a lot of better than I do. I am, therefore, more than happy to back their choice in 100%. They have the runs on the board in recent drafts.

All that’s left to say is: Welcome to the greatest football club in the world, <Pick 4>, McCabe, Dear - and, hopefully, another first-rounder traded in for our f1!

Enjoy the evening, everyone!

If you want to see something in the realm of "How far the mighty have fallen"

Knightmare on Youtube 🤣🤣🤣
does he have Casey Voss in the top 10 for his draft rankings?

I don't wanna be horrible about the bloke but YouTube shouldn't have been his preference of delivery method. Not an enjoyable bloke to listen to.

The hype over Watson on this board is obvious and Im on board. Hawks have gone pretty safe with the last two top 10 picks so going for someone who can win matches off his own boot is the obvious move for me.

Think Papley. But if Ginni comes on too we have two of them. Its so exciting.

I dont think Curtin is a great fit for Hawthorn.

But if Duursma isn't picked up by North is the consensus that Hawks take him instead? Is he that much better than Watson? Maybe he compliments Moore, Ginni and the big guys better?

I dont know what to root for regarding those two...

If DGB can get smart about his mongrel and we draft Watson we will have three players including Ginni in the forward line next year that can get under the skin of the defenders, the old ‘push-n-flop’ free kicks in front of goal could finally be ours.

Watson seems like the choice. How do we rate him? Given he's pick 5 do we see him as a superior player to someone like Kozzie Pickett? Charlie Cameron? Luke Breust?

Best thing about the f/s bids is that we’ll most likely have any non-f/s players under the hood tonight and don’t have to worry about the unnecessary second day. Of all the stupid made for TV spectacle (which borders on unwatchable) the AFL confect - the two day draft is the worst.

Our Pick will likely end up Pick 5 as it is assumed Walter (GCS Academy player) will be bid on in the first few picks.
I know this gets argued about every year, but I really don't care where our picks ends up with Academies, F/S etc.

There's a pool of available players and we have pick 4 of those available.

It is amazing how some think it is somehow important. As long as all the bids come before any McCabe bid. In fact, better for us if we are forced down to pick 8.

We turned down 2 early firsts from GWS for Luke Breust back in the day. If he ends up better than Punky he'd arguably be behind only Buddy, Pendles and Boak for all time #5 draft picks so it's fairly unlikely.

Would be great if we picked him and he did, though.

I have no clue who we will or should pick, but I'll be happy if it is The Wizard.

Aside from Hodge, my most recent favorite players have been Cyril and Punky, so why not add another small forward to my favorites list. Give him a number in the 30's, and then give him 22 when Punky retires. I won't have to replace my jumper then.

The voice and delivery is bad

And still the comment "I haven't watched any junior football but my knowledge is still strong enough" is the cream on top

Everyone was an armchair biomechanics expert after the first week of finals this year - why can’t this guy be a draft guru having watched zero junior footy. It’s aspirational!

I'm one of the few that enjoy the 5 minute break between each pick.

These boys have been working towards being drafted for years, and most will be in attendance with family and friends tonight. The least we can do is give them 5 minutes to soak it in, go up on stage to collect their jumper and have a chat to the media. Maybe 10 minutes would be better. :p

"If the Roos overlook Curtin, Hawthorn will then consider taking him or exciting Eastern Ranges small forward Nick Watson, who kicked a competition-high 14 goals for Vic Metro at this year’s national carnival.
Curtin, a 197cm prospect who won WA’s MVP award this year, was one of several prospects interviewed by the Hawks last week. But Watson has been heavily linked to Hawthorn’s selection for a while."

"Melbourne, which holds Pick 6, also has a strong interest in Watson and even attempted to move up the draft order to get him, offering the Hawks Pick 6 and a future first-rounder in exchange for Pick 4. That offer is still on the table, but hasn’t persuaded the Hawks yet — which has rival clubs thinking the Hawks are more likely to pick Watson over Curtin because if they slid back to Pick 6, Curtin would highly likely still be on the board."

"The other Pick 7 trade watch surrounds Hawthorn, with sources of the opinion the Hawks are eyeing a way to get a second pick to select another player they like inside the top 10 after taking Watson."

As well as interviewing Curtin last week, the Hawks also caught up with Murray Bushrangers defender Connor O’Sullivan, as well as Dandenong Stringrays gun Harry DeMattia. Could the Hawks aim to trade back in and get Curtin or O’Sullivan at the Giants’ pick before matching a bid on Will McCabe later in the first round? Or could they even make a play for DeMattia later in the first round?

He is basically a dwarf version of Buddy Franklin...swagger included.

I can guarantee that my opinion will change the moment we make our pick. I've got the posts ready to edit the minute the pick is made.
