Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

Don’t worry about the guy who replaced Knightmare at ESPN he said the suns had 3 academy picks expected in the first 20-30 picks and also Caleb Graham. He hasn’t got a clue just another plagiarising parrot!

Morris has really long arms for his height.

Tbh I’m not such a fan of having 2m KPF. most of them are useless when the ball is on the ground and take few contested marks.

Id much rather them in the 190-195 range and be more useful around the ground.

I think Morris is a Smokey in the same way M.Lewis was. Displayed high level qualities suited to a position he didn’t really play much.

Logan Morris is my preferred 2nd-3rd round pick atm.
But how big are his hands?

If Eagles take Reid then I think that would be a good move. Probably could get a straight swap the next year if both players want to get home. And if he wants to stay with us then that’s just as good as he looks like he’ll be a very impressive player.

This is a dangerous game to play though. What if Reid wanted to stay and Curtain wanted to go home?

Would be gutted if WC take Reid and North gobble both Dursma and Watson up. iI don’t think there’s a better/more promising forward in the draft than these two.

Then you get McKercher. Can't lose.

Best result imo. Harley aside of course. Second best player in it imo

Looks to be an absolute jet and probably gets going quicker than any of the others I guess but where does he fit in our mix?? Does he play midfield and where does that leave McKenzie etc.. Positional fit is my only worry with McKercher..

I do wonder this too. Sam's on the record saying we're still after an "X-factor midfielder" so I dare say we'd have a long term spot for him should that eventuate.

Not too sure tbh. Think he could play wing though.

I just don't see how his game and traits don't translate to AFL with fast paced ball movement etc.

More questions on duursma for mine

I can see him playing either HF, wing or HB as he develops his body using his speed and endurance to cover plenty of ground and get involved in the game that way.

Probably more wing and HF given how many defenders we have. As for who plays midfield, it will be up to who puts their hand up for those spots. Mitchell was trialling a lot more in the start of the year but seems happy with the mix now. Up to any draftees and our youngsters to force themselves into the mix.

Then we demand the world in trade from Eagles. Probably get pick 1 2024.

This is true, no way to predict what might happen, and an outcome like that would be top shelf. I'm likely having a bit of a sook because the players I like will probably be gone.

But there's a couple of options that aren a long way from terrible in that top 6. and the player in question is one of them.

North would take Curtin and one of Dursma or Watson. They have a black hole in their backline that is the size of all outdoors..

Curtin would be very risky for them though. Relying on an 18 year old KPD to slot straight into their backline with such little support. If they have a similar season to the last few he'll spend the year under siege and be requesting a trade back to WA within 12 months.

Norths Development Program is 3 years behind the rest of the comp (bar Carlton)
Just where a young player would love to land.
Make no mistake the go home / walk away factor is very real in this generation (JHF being the poster boy)

Club's know it and factor it into their thinking

I can see it now. Curtin with pick 2 and McKercher with pick 3. Both outta there in 4 years.

imagine this with Day & Newk. Wardy can work the outside & Cmac2 can be added too.

I was way too harsh on McKercher in my initial assessment.

I first watched his highlights from a match in wet conditions. Did not like his handball and ball use in that clip. But he is the complete midfielder in dry weather conditions, which is most afl matches.

He does it all. In this clip I love his use of time and space to deliver weighted handballs that draw an opponent away from teammates. His kicking is sublime. Not Jarman level but pretty damn good.

I could see Him slotting onto a wing next year and playing most games for us.

Maybe we get the Duursma/McKercher double instead of Watson.
