Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

Interesting. It’s a full on swings and round abouts. I’ve been on the Watson train, Duursma train, Curtin train and even the Sanders train at times.

I’m going to be excited by whoever we pick up to be honest. They all offer something we desperately need. However, even the recruiters with their expertise and interviews won’t know 100% whether they’ll produce at AFL level what they’re touted to be capable of.

The McKercher train is leaving the station. Despite the existing log-jam in the middle for us, I can picture Sam falling in love with him in the interview room. His attitude and dedication seem a level above the rest. There's a chance he'll be there at our pick, and I expect him to be a Hawk if he is.

I do think that North will pick him up along with Duursma, but we're talking about the club that went for Phillips, so anything is possible.

Spoke to a North fan today (don't worry, I wore a mask, maintained 1.5m and washed my hands well afterwards) and he is pretty convinced that North will try to get Sanders. They either take him with pick 3 or they try to do a deal where they trade picks 2&3 for something like 1&6.

Did you drop a coin in his tin?

I think they're trying to package their 15-18 picks for something in the sanders range

Cmon, he's 24 and hasn't played an AFL game yet.

McKay is at least proven and was good enough, despite what posters here are suggesting, for two clubs to offer him huge contracts.
I half agree. If this Phillips bloke was a guarantee to be that good he'd already be AFL listed. Pretty much every recruit is way less of a sure thing than most people think.

That said, McKay was offered huge contracts because of scarcity and demand not because he was that good.

Don't think that'll work.

Reid, Duursma, McKercher, Watson, Curtin, Caddy, Sanders.

In the scenario that Sanders is taken last of that group, that would mean he's gone by Geelong's pick unless there's a surprise. None of us, Dogs, Dees or Giants will be interested to move back, they're all trying to move up.

So Watson, McCabe, dear is most likely our draft?

Seems like it at this stage.

Unless a trade happens between WCE and North it seems like the unanimous top four are Reid, Walter, Duursma and McKercher.

That would be a quality draft IMO - classy small forward, a classy tall defender and a project KPF. All needs for this side.

It's been a while since I've visited, so for what it's worth, we are going to land a quality player with pick 4 (really 5). Pick 5 averages more games than pick 4 over the journey, so there's a silver lining.

My preference remains Curtin. He is the Gary Ayres of the new millennium. A good driver in heavy traffic, he will form a dynamic duo with McCabe down back that provides incredibly flexibility. Both can read the ball in flight and intercept, both can play tall or small, both can use the ball with precision. When Grand Final day comes around, we sling him into the guts for a NSM performance.

He seems like the best fit for the list, especially now that we have acquired Ginnivan.

I'm not against Watson, but I want talls.

If Curtin and O'Sullivan could be picked up with 6 (7) & 11 (13), I wouldn't hesitate to drop down the order, but I doubt we'd get both.

That said, I love what O'Sullivan brings to the table and he could be the lynchpin to our backline for a decade. I'd be happy with him and Darcy Wilson ahead of McCabe.

No point chasing the pick swap though. Let clubs chase up on draft night and see who wants to spend big.

All these picks the Shinbeggars have been given and they just seem to be packaging them all up for 'top talent' rather than use the picks as 'spins of the wheel'.

The caveat on these picks is they should've been used to bring in a player or used on a player, not gambling on the highest pick possible.

**** I hate them.

Check your pockets in case the Shinbegger bastard tried to steal our pick 4.

Kpp's are going to get even more harder to find in time, next year's crop is also mid size heavy, so, we get McCabe, dear to add to what we have plus Denver improves, that would mean less headaches moving frwd. If we land Curtin then I'd be happy as we already have abundance of mids and half backs, so from there on in , just hope that Ginni, Moore and Butler can fill the smaller frwd roles.

Yeah to be honest if we leave with Watson, McCabe and Dear I'd be very happy.

If Curtain and Watson are both available at our pick I wonder if the dogs will ask us for a trade so they can guarantee Watson.

We then take Curtin and obtain whatever else the dogs give us for the courtesy of moving up a spot.

🤷‍♂️
What else do they have to offer? The cupboard is bare.

I’m unsure why people think we’d be willing to give up Watson?
I’m 99% sure we would tell the dogs to jamb it and take wiz ourselves as he is who we want

Suppose it depends on how the club rate Curtin or other potential options in comparison to Watson.

I personally believe that McKercher would be the only player that would be considered before Wiz.
I can 99% guarantee trades for for 1 have been exhausted by HFC.
I also believe that North will also pull all bids for 1.
I for one could be the most second most exited man on this board if we select Watson.

Hmmm. I wonder who the 1st would be? Any ideas TheFourPillars ?
