Tholstrup still strikes me as someone who would suit our needs however I don’t think we have a pick in his range after the Croft bid at this stage.

Definitely keen on Caddy as well, if we see him being able to develop into that De Goey, Martin and lesser extent Stringer type of player.

Also really like O’Sullivan think he’ll complement the tall defenders we have already nicely.

Would be keen on Watson if we do trade up.

I’ve been a big advocate for mids with our firsts and avoiding talls, but O’Sullivan might be too good to pass on if there at our pick.

If Croft’s touted as a Top 12 player, O’Sullivan should be Top 3. Looks far more impressive from available footage.

They've played on each other twice this year and won one each. Both look like future stars.

Completely agree. O’Sullivan would be way too good to pass up especially considering quality tall defenders are still a list need.

Could play some senior football next year if called upon as well. Has a good offensive / defensive mix - can lock down and intercept.

There’s no doubt he will be elite.

There is also the fact that we need a replacement for Jones. Would like to develop our own rather than rely on getting in KPD on trade that are only good to slightly better than average but with only a few years left in them.
No doubt we need mids but I don't feel that there is anyone that is worth our 2 1st's that we can realistically get .
So personally would take the long term FB option

Looks like we will get pick 10 or 11. Assuming that if we do make finals we lose week 1. Will that be low enough to get under the Croft bid?

Reckon we need to trade up for sure after last night.

Think we have to trade up to make sure. Pick 10 or 11 could turn into something like pick 14 on the night. Gold Coast have 3 guns and most likely 2 get bids on them. North possibly get Sanders as an NGA and/or pick 3 for McKay as compensation.

I still think our first will fall before a Croft bid so I’d be happy to walk away with best player available at 11, Croft and trade back in for Lual later on.

Push the Lions first into 2024 and work with two first rounders next year. It means we should get two first round talents in back to back seasons.

I have Croft at 21 in my rankings, but many others have him rated around that pick 12/13 mark and it's been reported that recruiters have him firmly entrenched in the middle of the first round. I think it would be a risky move.

It’s such an awkward spot, it would be disastrous if we thought a bid wasn’t coming and it did and we lost our first without doing anything with it. I think best move would be to plan for a bid.

Clubs usually warn each other about bids don’t they? Who’s the most likely to **** us - could see Bombers bidding they need a key forward too and he’s the best one available.

Man I wish we just lost last night to be completely honest

Yeah not gonna lie, Lual excites me more than Croft, but that’s probably because talls are old news now
Would love the wizard plus Croft and lual. The wizard almost certainly there at 4 you can would think as WC will likely stay low but take Curtin. Based on everything going on at the kennel we’ll probably lose someone decent and trade in a quality winger or speedster.

Sydney pulled some ****ery last year.

No , losing football matches for draft spots is never a good idea.

1000x this.
Winning culture is way more important than a couple of draft spots

I think in time Ollie Murphy ends up as good as O'Sullivan.

Definitely also rate Murphy. Has been very impressive with similar traits to O’Sullivan. Would love either / both.
Except I think O’Sullivans body is more built at this stage, so could impact earlier.

We definitely should just take the best available at 10 and 14 even if this moves to 14 and 18 with matching.

Having said that - we will end this season with Jones our only lock key defender and he will be 32/33. We have lost Bruce and may lose Keath or at least this will be a last year where he will be unlikely injury or form wise to be a lock.

Jones/Gardner - JOD and a debutant Busslinger is not a finals tall backline and is relying on kids to take huge leaps in one year. We will need to trade or FA a solid 27-30 year old to at least allow JOD and Buss to develop. I hope Gards is learning from Jones but there will always be a huge gap in ability between these two.

This is a stop gap and we will need to draft at least on potential fullback. Darcy may play there but this will likely cause him injury.

So Murphy or O’Sullivan would be perfect. It is a big call that Croft will transition to that FB in two years.

Also need:
- big powerful mid with attitude Tholstrop would be perfect and play next year. Will be around our pick. Could of others will be there also.

- then need a fast winger later on. Or trade for Henry or similar.

If we end up with O’Sullivan, Tholstrop, Croft and Lual then I would be dreaming - for this too happen all must fall our way and it never does. Get our first two picks away then Croft slips -land we match him then Lual slips out and we can match him. Boy can dream…

If we lose Sweet then likely to need a ruck - I would draft one late and also trade one in - I would go with someone with a bit more to offer as a forward also like Charlie Comben or CCJones so can rotate with Darcy as he develops. Who knows how they might play on a good team.

Dogs will be hosting a cat b work out during the summer to see due to success of JOD

If the NGA rules change which allows other clubs to nominate players if the club declines

They have their eye on a few players in the S.A and W.A academys

If we could somehow get Wilson, Roberts/Leake and Croft I would be pretty happy with that. Addresses some list needs and secured a good F/S talent.

I do know another vic team who is also watching them too. I doubt the Eagles and Crows don’t take them though.

Really hoping we can pounce.

We need midfielders/wingman with speed who can use the ball more than anything. Although could also use a quality defender and a medium to small forward.
