Got to love these Carlton supporters who want multiple players in the AA team while they are flying high in 11th.
Yep. They honestly believe they have three players as a lock for the 2023 AA team in the same way as every off season they honestly believe they are in the mix for next year's premiership...

Houston - Andrews - Wilkie
Sinclair - Moore - Daicos
Merrett - Bontempelli - Dawson
Darcy - Butters - Neale
Petracca - Walker - Greene
Cameron - Curnow - Hawkins
English - Rozee - Serong - Taranto

  • cameron better hope he finds form or the other small forwards continue to struggle otherwise he might miss a deserved second aa
  • we know the selectors dont pick wingers, but i tried to put the balanced inside / outside mids there
  • tom green is flying under the radar a bit itt. likely in the squad and could make team with a strong back end to the year
  • selectors usually opt for a backup ruck on bench. think english and darcy have had good enough seasons to both be selected

Goals and assists round 17:

1. Charlie Curnow 59 (48/11)
2. Taylor Walker 57 (48/9)/Tom Hawkins (40/17)
4. Toby Greene 54 (38/16)
5. Joe Daniher 50 (39/11)
6. Nick Larkey 49 (44/5)
7. Jeremy Cameron 48 (39/9)
8. Kyle Langford 47 (32/15)
9. Charlie Cameron 46 (37/9)/Aaron Naughton/Izak Rankine (32/14)

Tom Green wouldn't be in the top 20 midfielders in the competition this year...

Zero chance.
think his work around stoppage is some of the best in the league already. brutally strong and always seems to get the handball off, oliver-esque in that regard. rarely beaten to the ball

very highly rated in contested possessions, total disposals and effective disposals per game

averages nearly identical score involvements per game to bontempelli which shows he isnt just an accumulator with no hurt factor

I don't think the rucks have been as big a standout to demand a second stand alone ruck. Likely go Daniher as a second ruck/3rd fwd on the bench such has his impact been.

That's nice.

But still behind the following midfielders in the pecking order:
Dawson
Neale
Dunkley
De Goey
Serong
Anderson
J. Kelly
Merrett
Petracca
Butters
Rozee
Taranto
Sinclair
Bontempelli
Liberatore

And that's before we include J. Daicos, Gulden, N. Martin and McGluggage as wingers.

You do realise how difficult it is to get into the AA Team, don't you?

very difficult, of course

and i would agree he is behind all those youve listed i included in my team

but i do not think he is behind some of the others you have listed. i would have his year at about equal with anderson's and liberatore's.

i do not think green is behind kelly considering kelly's games missed and having down games such as on the weekend where he got absolutely locked out of the match by finn maginess

Green has been the best true centerman this year in my opinion he has been so consistent and is 3rd in disposals per game this year, he wins hard ball and uses it well he is a real asset, has had 3 goal games and 13 tackle games as well so can do both sides of the game.

I would put him on par with Bont this year.

My order of midfielders this year top 5

Daicos
Merrett
Bont
Green
Rozee/Serong/Neale

no Butters?

I'm giving out my first Lock - as in if they are injured or suspended for the rest of the year they still make the team

Nick Daicos

Butters, Petrecca probably one more great game away

Zac Merrett is literally the (second) best player in the comp right now and you didn't even mention him.

FB: Stewart Andrews Sicily

HB: N.Daicos Moore Houston

C: J.Daicos Bontempelli Gulden

HF: Rankine Curnow Bolton

FF: Langford Walker Greene

FOL: Darcy Petracca Butters

IC: Merrett Neale Sinclair Hawkins
Merrett will start. Has been a top 5 sides best player all year. He starts

Charlie Cameron slowly but surely losing grip on his spot.

Langford is a nice shout.
i reckon the selectors will slot Tracc on a HF though to squeeze an additional mid in. Love that fwd line though. I'd also wager if any fwd is on the bench it's Daniher. Having quite an underrated season after a shaky first couple of weeks.
