Any selection committee with Kane Cornes on it should have an asterix.

What would a French comic book character have to do with All Australian?

Funny people put so much credence on a team picked by the likes of Kane Cornes and Laura Kane. Weird.

You'll forgive the hilarity given the main board has had to tolerate tens of thousands (not an exaggeration) of Richmond posts this season about how good they were, how good they are, and how good they will be in the future.

Can dish it out but cannot take it in return.

He's not a full forward . He kicked 21 goals in a finals series once and has won 3 Norm Smith medals. Hawkins is a liability for the groundball .
He only got captain because he's part of the private school club and plays polo with McLoughlin.
I'm aware 21 goals in a finals series is achievable as there have been a number of all time greats who have done this.

But in which finals series did Martin kick 21 goals?

STPer18 has some way to go to get to the greats like Dangerfield, Franklin and is only 1 gong away from defensive best 6x AA's but must note that Stewart draws level with Rance tonight. And given the quickness with which he's achieved it (fastest ever) we must deduce he's superior to Alex as well.

I tried to, but couldn't find it.

Maybe you have access to different data sources than me, which might explain why your assessment of Martin's career is so warped?
25 goals in finals as a mid, I should have said. 3x Aryres medal, 3 x NSmith.
I would rate Jamie Elliot above Josh Daicos.
The AA concept is wrong as it doesn't reward genuine forwards apart from full forwards, but rewards genuine backmen.
I'm sure Tom Hawkins would have got in with Martin's stats, but Martin's dad was a biker and he didn't go to a private school.

If he’s a liability for the ground ball, what are all the players NOT rated ‘above average’ for ground ball gets?

Do you have any thoughts on the ground-ball-get stats of the 3 tall forwards in the AA team - who all have less ground ball possessions per game than Hawkins?

F*** do you clowns EVER ever just go to the effort of checking anything before saying it?

It’s a voted award, the players voted for him, fair enough, doesn’t mean I have to agree with it, and I don’t.
I think Bontempelli is a fantastic captain but he’s leading a top 4 list to 5-10 finishes year after year and has at least half a dozen good players not producing their best more often than not. He sets a great example by the way he plays and how he carries his team but he’s not getting much out of them right at the moment is he.

Greene seems to have had no trouble inspiring his and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone at GWS who isn’t playing to their potential with him showing the way.
This is the biggest myth in football. Been saying it for 2 years - the Bulldogs' list is way to top heavy to be a top 4 list. They have big holes in the backline (no intercept tall, no lockdown small defender), midfield (too slow), and forward line (no teamwork, all fly for the same ball continuously), as well as seriously lacking depth (way too many not AFL standard).

The fact that the football department were spruiking the fact that top 4 was the goal shows that the overrating the list problem also extends off field.

As for Toby Greene being named captain by the AA selectors, it just shows we are becoming more like the USA by the day. They also love to celebrate the redemption of a (mainly African American) player who has overcome great adversity in life (usually of their own making).

I still cannot fathom how Tim English is the best ruckman in the league. Toby Conway destroyed him on in the first half on Saturday joining a long list of no name ruckmen who have had career best games against Tim this year. Sorry Tim but Max Gawn is so much better than you that it is not funny.

Or we just rate Greene’s football leadership.

Yep, still believe I missed out on the under 12s best & fairest because my Uncle Dave was a brickies labourer

Hawkins will be a huge liability next year, it was selfish of him to play on. If Martin ever plays permanent full-forward , he will kick more than 7 goals in a game more than once.

All Australian totatally disregard finals games so it's not a true reflection of greatness.
Peak Bont hasn't ever played in a dominant team (2021 Bulldogs were competitive and Bont came 5th in the Ayres award), while Petracca has just once (and tore that finals series/GF apart).

Martin has just the 1 AA and no other awards outside of that dominant 2017-2020 era. No player has ever timed their peak as beautifully but you can't hold that against Bont this year for example being part of a so-so side. He still did get AA, league MVP and best captain anyway.

is your avatar you or kane cornes on the crack pipe?
I think Hawkins and Gil are meeting up at Portsea next week for the polo match.
Meanwhile Dusty's deported dad died on a kitchen floor in NZ and Gil said nothing because he's part of the old money squattocracy/LibNat old boys club.

How do explain an average full-forward compared to the greats, like Hawkins getting AA captaincy then?
It’s simple if we are using your methodology as an example.
Let me explain.
Tom Hawkins Dad was a footballer that really wanted to be an astronaut. Hence why Tom has multiple All Australian nods including as Captain.
Dusty’s Dad was a biker so he doesn’t.
Simple.

Also Dusty is the best grand final player ever but is he the best finals player ever?

I don’t get why my question was quoted for this I was just asking about your avatar. Hawkins comes from a good honest hard working farm as well I don’t know why he is included in that breath of company?

He had 141 score involvements from 20 games in an average side with a poor midfield, including a couple where he got injured/was rushed back.

Riewoldt had 103 S1s from 21 games (125 in 2022).

~40 score involvements is a fair amount. It's the difference between Riewoldt and Balta, who was a defender most of the year.

Hawkins has another non liability year left at a minimum.
